The BMW X6 came onto the market in 2008 and was the pioneer of the sports activity coupe, a line that BMW would continue for a long time with a slightly sloping roof that would distinguish it from the SUVs on the market. The BMW X6 was never a resounding success in the Netherlands, but by now the counter is fairly close to 2000. Are you the owner of a BMW X6 and do you need to replace the windscreen? With us, you can find new windscreens for the X6 from € 299.
Before we look at the attractive prices of our new windscreens, let's have a look at this model from BMW. Why, for example, did the X6 never become a big success in the Netherlands?
The BMW X6 saw the light of day in 2008. The X6 is slightly longer and wider than the BMW X5, but at the same time it is lower and has fewer seats (4) than the X5. This is not surprising, by the way: the even type numbers of BMW are the sportier version with less attention to the practical side than the uneven counterpart.
As expected, BMW introduced a top model of the X6 in 2009. It is the X6 M (also known as high performance) with a 547 hp 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 engine. With its 677 Nm, you can start roadwork with the BMW X6 M, and of course the car is equipped with numerous spectacular features, including 20-inch wheels, hill assist, special grilles and flippers on the steering wheel for shifting gears.
How does something like that come out? Below you can see what the car can do. Pay special attention to second 29, in which both occupants are almost put on the back seat by the enormous power of the BMW X6 M (Competition version):
The BMW X6 is also available as an ActiveHybrid X6. Here, two 67 kW electric motors work together with the 402 hp combustion engine. The key word here is cooperation. If you drive exclusively on the electric motors and don't want to emit any CO2, the maximum speed of the car is only 60 kilometres per hour. The X6 is simply too large and heavy to achieve a higher speed on electric power alone, and the range also leaves something to be desired.
In 2014, the second generation of the BMW X6 hit the market, opting for a new eight-speed automatic transmission and a boot that was slightly more spacious. Once again, the X6 was equipped with stunning engines, but remained somewhat the clunky big brother of the X5.
At the time of writing the counter in the Netherlands is still under 2000 units. Also in Europe and America the model was not a huge success. However, that won't be a problem for BMW. It is a well-known fact that the uneven type numbers are mainly meant to be sold, and the even type numbers are meant to show what BMW can do when it comes to making impressive cars.
Windscreen damage is annoying, but in not all cases is this really a reason to panic. There are only two cases where the car will not pass the MOT because of windscreen damage. This is windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision, where the damage is a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or it is a branched-out crack.
In other cases you can just keep on driving with the chip or crack in the windscreen. However, it is wise to keep an eye on the windscreen damage as a damaged windscreen can continue to crack.
You can find new BMW X6 windscreens from € 299. This price is significantly lower than the automotive glass at your BMW dealer, while the quality is the same. In fact, the car windows are made in exactly the same factories, using the same machines.
However, the windscreens at your BMW dealer have a brand logo, which makes the windscreen exclusive. Our aftermarket car windows have no brand logo and are therefore considerably more affordable. For example, did you know that our new windscreens online are often cheaper than second-hand car windows with a BMW logo?
Replacing a windscreen is work for a specialist. Correct and precise fitting prevents problems such as leakage or the windscreen coming loose under heavy braking. Do you have a lot of experience with windscreen replacements or do you own a garage? Then you can choose to order the new car windows online without fitting them with us. Are you or will you be visiting our area? Then you can even pick up your windscreen at our shop to save even more on costs.
