Cheap windscreen replacement for your BMW Z8

The BMW Z8 was never intended to be an independent model for sale. The Z8 was meant to be an homage to the iconic BMW 507 that was produced from 1956 to 1959. Since there was immediately a lot of demand for the Z8 from consumers, BMW decided to actually put the Z8 into production on a larger scale. Large-scale is a relative term; a total of 5,703 examples were produced.

Are you the owner of one of these special BMW Z8 models and does the windscreen need replacing? Then you can find a new BMW windscreen for just € 2399 for your Z8. Before we go any further into the low price of new car windows, let's give the BMW Z8 all the space it deserves.

The BMW Z8; from a tribute to a model that went into large-scale production

The BMW Z8 was produced from 2000 to 2003 in a very limited edition. Initially, it was never intended to be a production car. The developments and designs were actually intended as an homage to the BMW 507 which had become an iconic model over the years. The Z07 concept car was shown in Tokyo in 1997. When it became clear that there was a lot of interest, the concept car had to be adapted into a car that would be practical.

The Z8 was marketed at $128,000 and had a 395bhp V8 engine that was shared with the BMW M5 Sports Saloon. BMW also paid a lot of attention to the interior of the BMW Z8. Certain function buttons were shared in order to make the interior of the car as luxurious as possible. By the way, BMW pulled off another clever stunt. Since it was immediately clear that the Z8 would be a collector's item and would be at least as iconic as the BMW 507, BMW made a promise. The German car manufacturer would keep a stock of spare parts for 50 years in order to always be able to serve the Z8 owners well.

In November 2002, production of the Z8 came to an end. The BMW Z8 was succeeded by the Alpina Roadster V8, of which only 555 were made.

How good is the BMW Z8 really?

Car & Driver, a leading magazine in the world of cars, tested the BMW Z8 against the Ferrari 360 Modena, and the BMW won. The BMW Z8 also featured in the James Bond movie The World is not Enough and can be used in the popular racing game Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2.

If you want to take a look yourself, the video below is an interesting POV for the BMW Z8 driver. Of course, you can also opt for the James Bond movie, but that might be shocking for the BMW enthusiast as the BMW Z8 in the movie has a sad ending.

Is the BMW Z8 a resounding success? When you look at the 71 models sold in the Netherlands,
it seems like a flop. The truth, however, is that this exclusive model sold out completely and was already an iconic car at the time of its launch, giving collectors warm feelings. A car that was never intended as a production car and then sold out completely can justifiably be called a great success.

When should the windscreen of the BMW Z8 be replaced?

A car's windscreen only needs to be replaced when it has a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or a ramified crack in the driver's field of vision. The average BMW Z8 owner will not agree with this when it comes to the Z8. This iconic model has a luxurious look and feel and oozes character, elegance and modern retro. No windscreen damage goes hand in hand with that. If you can't repair the damage and want it fixed as soon as possible, the only option is to replace the windscreen.

How much does a new BMW Z8 windscreen cost?

You can get a new BMW Z8 windscreen for € 2399. These are not the prices the BMW dealer charges for 50-year stock. These are after market windscreens. The quality is identical, the windscreens are made in the same factory, but they have no brand logo and that is where all the price difference comes from.

Given the exclusivity of the BMW Z8, you can be sure that our new BMW Z8 windscreens are also significantly cheaper than the second-hand ones for the BMW Z8 with a brand logo.
