Cheap windscreen replacement for your Citroën C1

The Citroën C1 is one of the smallest cars from France that has simultaneously become one of its biggest successes. This is mainly due to its small size, as this compact model came out when consumers started looking en masse for economical city cars that could be effortlessly parked in any car park. Do you own a Citroën C1 and need a windscreen replacement? Then you will find cheap windscreens with us where you do not sacrifice anything on quality.

Before we explain how we are able to offer our windscreens so cheaply, let's take a look at this Citroën model that has become a resounding success in the Netherlands.

First generation of the Citroën C1 in 2005

The C1 is a model from PSA Peugeot Citroën in partnership with Toyota and that means the C1 is part of a three-part series, complemented by the Peugeot 107 and the Toyota Aygo (which, however, differs a lot in design). At the time of production, the C1 was the smallest Citroën in production and with an average fuel consumption of 4.6 litres per 100 km (roughly 1 in 22), it had a practical billboard as it was a very economical, compact car.

Funnily enough, Citroën did not do much with the first generation (apart from recalling 100,000 units due to technical defects), apart from modifications to the bumper and grille in 2009 and a slightly larger facelift round in 2012. Two new trims were also added in 2012, both of which would be more luxurious than the versions before.

2014: the second generation of the C1

In 2014, the new generation of the Citroën C1 was shown, which would sit alongside the Peugeot 108 and the second-generation Toyota Aygo. The second generation immediately got an Airscape model, a convertible version of the C1. No facelifts or modifications were given to this model, and even the third generation, which had already been sketched out, was taken off the road. Eventually, both the Peugeot 108 and the second generation of the Citroën C1 would be taken out of production in January 2022.

How successful has the Citroën C1 been?

We could call the Citroën C1 an unprecedented success with more than 1.2 million units rolling out of the factory, but that would be too much credit for the French carmaker. Indeed, the C1 was placed in the most popular market segment, was an inexpensive model and was placed in dealerships in many countries at the same time. Had this been a more expensive or luxury car, 1.2 million would have been a huge success. For this model, it is downright fine and that is the end of the matter.

Incidentally, the model did become above-average success in the Netherlands, where 100,000 units were sold
and only the Citroën BX did better for the French. At the time of writing, the Citroën C1 still manages to stay ahead of the Citroën C3 in terms of sales figures, but since the C3 is still in production, this battle is not over yet.

Citroën has plenty of impressive, surprising and interesting advertisements. Here, however, we want to take you briefly to perhaps one of the strangest, near-worst adverts for a mini, where even the humour comes off pretty badly.

When should the windscreen of your Citroën C1 be replaced?

There are numerous ways in which the windscreen of your Citroën C1 can be damaged, but in far from all cases, windscreen damage means that the windscreen actually needs to be replaced. In fact, in most cases, you can just keep on driving. In only two cases will the car be rejected at the MOT because of windscreen damage. This is the case when there is a chip in the windscreen with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or when the damage is a branched crack. In both cases, the windscreen must be replaced if this damage is in the driver's field of vision.

What does a new C1 windscreen cost?

You can get a new Citroën C1 windscreen from us for as little as €249, including VAT. This is considerably less than what the Citroën dealer wants from you for a new windscreen, while the quality of the glass is identical. Indeed, the car windows are often even made in the same factories. So where does the price difference come from? It has everything to do with the brand logo in the original windscreens of Citroën, which gives the window an exclusive character and does nothing else for the car glass. So if you want the best windscreen at the lowest price, you will always end up with our products.

Can you replace the windscreen of the Citroën C1 yourself?

If you are not sure if you can replace the windscreen of your C1 yourself or think you can do it with an instruction video, it means that you cannot do it yourself and are better off outsourcing. We are happy to make this much easier for you, as we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. You arrange this directly when ordering your new Citroën C1 windscreen and the website will adjust the price directly for each choice you make.
