Cheap windscreen replacement for your Citroën C3

The Citroën C3 is part of one of Citroën's most popular series and this model has itself become a great success. The first three generations sold very well and the fourth generation is still in production at the time of writing. If you have a Citroën C3 and need to replace the windscreen, you can find cheap car windows with us without compromising on the quality of the automotive glass. Before we tell you how much cheaper our windscreens are than those from your Citroën dealer, let's take a look at the success model from France.

The Citroën C3: the first generation in 2002

When the Citroën C3 was launched in 2001, it was immediately clear that the PSA Group was sticking to its own habits. For instance, the C3's chassis was used for the Peugeot 1007 and the Peugeot 207, and the Citroën C3 had quite a few parts in common with the Peugeot 206. However, the idea was mainly to design a model based on the Citroën 2CV, or box-full (in Dutch, ‘doosje-vol’ sounds nicer).

The first models of the C3 were exclusively 5-door hatchbacks and were fitted with a 1.1, 1.4 or 1.6 petrol engine, or 1.4 or 1.6 for the diesel versions.

In 2005, the first generation of the C3 got quite a facelift, with a more imposing bumper, wider air intake and a completely redesigned grille. The interior was also updated and technological improvements were made, such as improved steering wheel response at higher speeds.

During the first generation, the Citroën C3 Pluriel also entered the market. You can read all about that on our ‘cheap windscreen replacement for your Citroën C3 Pluriel’ page.

2009: the second generation of the Citroën C3

In 2009, the second generation entered the market, which was wider and longer than its predecessor. This time, parts from the Citroën DS3 were used to make things easier for the designers. The engines were also carried over from the previous model, although new engines made in collaboration with BMW were added. These 16-valve engines feature patented injection technology and ignition and were specially developed for lower CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

The third generation in 2016

The second generation did not get a facelift because Citroën decided to launch a completely new generation in 2016. This time, the front end of the facelifted version of the Citroën C4 Picasso was used, as were the styling elements of the Citroën C4 Cactus. It was notable that the third generation would be immediately available in nine different interior colours, with a total of 36 possible colour combinations.

In 2020, this generation received a facelift and this revolved mainly around front LED lights and two new colours, allowing consumers to make the C3 even more unique.

The fourth (European) generation in 2024

Next came the fourth generation in 2024, which is based on the Smart Car Platform, the platform on which Stellantis plans to put numerous models. The fourth generation has plenty of new gadgets and features, including a steering wheel that is flat at the bottom, a layered dashboard and the Citroën Advanced Comfort Suspension and Citroën Advanced Comfort Seats. In other words, better handling, suspension and finer seats.

In the fourth generation, we also find the ë-C3 with a 44 kWh battery pack and a range of around 320 kilometres.

A word about that electric model: Citroën decided to make an advertisement that is downright strange. It seems to be based on the French Revolution (one of the bloodiest pages in French history), is made in Hungary (Festetics castle in Keszthely) and speaks of a revolution at a time when there are already plenty of electric models on the market. And anyway, it's a fun advert to watch again sometime.

The success of the Citroën C3 in and outside the Netherlands

The attractively priced, versatile and fuel-efficient Citroën C3 has become a resounding success for the French. Already in May 2021, the production counter ticked the 4.5 million mark and C3 models continue to find eager sales at dealers worldwide. In the Netherlands, this is also evident, as here the Citroën C3 was sold no less than 90,000 times
(and the counter is still running). Currently, only the Citroën C1 and the Citroën BX are ahead of the C3 on the list of best-selling Citroën models in the Netherlands, but it remains to be seen how long this will last.

To underline its success, we show you an advertisement by Citroën from 2002 in which it is immediately clear why this is such an attractive, convenient model to have.

When should the Citroën C3 windscreen be replaced?

It can just happen that a pebble slips out from under the tyre of the car in front of you and hits the windscreen of your Citroën C3, or that something hits your car's windscreen at home and causes windscreen damage. While this is extremely annoying, the risk of car window damage is unavoidable when you want to use your car. In far from all cases of windscreen damage, by the way, the windscreen needs to be replaced. Only if it is windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision and this is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres, the windscreen needs to be replaced.

In all other cases, you may continue driving with the damaged windscreen and as such, the damage is also not a reason for rejection at the MOT.

How much does a new Citroën C3 windscreen cost?

You already have a new windscreen for your Citroën C3 from € 299 (excluding windscreen mouldings). This even includes VAT, making our windscreens significantly cheaper than those at your Citroën dealer. This is remarkable, as the quality of the automotive glass is identical. However, we are able to offer our windscreens so cheaply because our automotive glass does not have a brand logo that ensures exclusivity (and literally does nothing else for the automotive glass). That means you can always find car windows with the best value for money with us.

Can you replace the windscreen of your Citroën C3 yourself?

The windscreen of your Citroën C3 needs to be replaced properly to avoid damage to the car and the automotive glass. That is why we cooperate with professional fitting partners who replace windscreens on location in the Netherlands and Belgium. When ordering your new Citroën C3 windscreen, you can directly indicate the time frame within which your car's windscreen needs to be replaced and what this does to the price.

Are you or do you know someone who can replace the windscreen yourself? Then of course you can also come to us for new windscreens excluding window replacement.
