The Citroën C3 Pluriel is a special edition of the C3 from Citroën and has been in production for no less than 7 years. This has simultaneously become a fairly successful model. In total, more than 100,000 models have been made. Do you have a C3 Pluriel and is the windscreen damaged? Before we look at C3 Pluriel windscreens, let's take a closer look at the standout model.
The C3 Pluriel entered the market in 2003 and its name is based on the English word plural. This has to do with the five different opening roof options for this convertible. A unique feature of this model is that all copies were made in Spain. These models were fitted with a 1.4 or 1.6-litre petrol engine or a 1.6-litre diesel. The Pluriel is not the only model derived from the Citroën C3 that took on a life of its own, as the French also did so with the Citroën C3 Picasso.
Although more than 100,000 units ( in total 115,000) were made, this is a pretty mediocre figure for worldwide sales in 7 years of production. It should be added that this model made an illustrious list: it ranked high in the list of 13 worst cars ever according to Top Gear Magazine, which mentioned here that the model is as handy as a teapot made of chocolate... In the Netherlands, at the time of writing, some 2,000 copies are still registered with the RDW.
The Pluriel was developed with a goal: the French car brand wanted to get rid of its dull and boring image and the C3 Pluriel was supposed to make this possible. Unfortunately, the model failed and although the video below is only 2 minutes long, it clearly shows why the Citroën C3 Pluriel did not become the resounding success the French were hoping for.
Although cars are becoming increasingly modern and innovative, the windscreen remains essentially just glass that can break. However, windscreens are made of laminated glass, which means that a chip or crack will not immediately cause the window to fall apart. In fact, you can often just keep on driving with windscreen damage. So when should windscreens be replaced? Actually, it is simple: there are two cases when the C3 Pluriel windscreen needs to be replaced. You need a new windscreen when the glass damage is in the driver's field of vision and when it is a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or a branched crack.
In these cases, your Citroën C3 Pluriel will not pass the next MOT because this windscreen damage can cause (very) dangerous situations. If the damage is in a different place or the chip or crack is still limited in size, it is up to you to decide whether you want a new windscreen or whether you will continue driving (for a while longer).
