Cheap windscreen replacement for your Citroën C4

When the Citroën C4 entered the market, this model immediately received a lot of attention, partly because Citroën's entire C-series became a success. At the time of writing, more than 25,000 units of this model have already been sold in the Netherlands and more C4s are being added every day. Do you own a Citroën C4 and need a windscreen replacement? Then you have come to the right page. Because with us, you will find high-quality car windows at amazingly low prices. Before we get into this, let's take a closer look at the spacious C4 to see where the success of this model comes from.

2004: the Citroën C4 becomes the successor to the Citroën Xsara

In 2004, the Citroën C4 entered the market and it was supposed to replace the popular Citroën Xsara. Interestingly, the first two generations of the C4 were a different type of car from the third generation. Initially, the C4 was a compact family car and this model had to appeal to a very wide audience. As a matter of fact, the C4 was built from the base of the Peugeot 307 and immediately entered the market as a 5-door hatchback and a 3-door coupé.

What made the C4 particularly special was where the driver sits. Here, more attention was paid to functionality and you can see that, for example, in significantly more storage space. In addition, the C4 was fitted with ADAS systems that were relatively new at the time, such as lane-keeping assistance, turn-by-turn headlights and ESP. Incidentally, the Hydractive system is not in the C4; this was reserved for more exclusive models such as the Citroën C5 and the Citroën C6.

The Citroën C4 Picasso also came out in 2006, by the way. You can read all about that on our page about a Citroën C4 Picasso windscreen replacement.

2010, the second generation sees the light of day

The second generation entered the market in 2010 and was slightly larger than its predecessor and was only available as a 5-door. The 3-door disappeared from the range because it sold worst with the first generation and because the French did not want to compete with their own Citroën DS3 (and later the Citroën DS4).

The second generation of the C4 was considerably less exciting, less eccentric and more Citroën. What made the generation special was that all new models came with tyres with lower rolling resistance, allowing the model to be called eco-friendly. Although that most probably also had to do with the fact that the first generation had to be taken off the market in several countries because its CO2 emissions were too high.

This was also the generation in which the Citroën C4 Cactus entered the market. You can read all about this on our page dedicated to replacing a Citroën C4 Cactus windscreen.

The third generation of the Citroën C4, a completely new car

However, it was the third generation that stunned. Indeed, in 2020, Citroën decided to make a coupé-SUV of the C4 as the new generation, with more luxurious materials and greater comfort, such as thanks to the larger touchscreen and the option to opt for the ë-C4 (electric).

It should be added that the model has many similarities with the Citroën DS3 Crossback, the Peugeot 208 (later models), Peugeot 2008, Opel Corsa and even the Opel Mokka. This has to do with the fact that Stellantis (owner of Citroën) decided to use the EMP1 platform extensively to make modern models.

The Citroën C4 is a resounding success and this was evident early on, as model number 3 million rolled out of the factories in 2013 and this number has only continued to rise steadily. At the time of writing, some 28,000 units
have also been sold in the Netherlands, putting this Citroën model between the Citroën ZX and the Citroën Xsara in terms of popularity, although it may well overtake the Citroën Saxo (29,000) and the Citroën Visa (35,000).

When we think of the Citroën C4, we quickly think of Transformers. This is mainly due to one of the most popular commercials Citroën has ever made. You can revisit one of those videos for yourself below.

When should the windscreen of your Citroën C4 be replaced?

There are plenty of ways in which the windscreen of your Citroën C4 can become damaged, but in far from all cases, you need to look for a new windscreen straight away. The windscreen of your Citroën C4 should be replaced if the damage is in the driver's field of vision and it is a chip with a diameter of at least 2 centimetres or if it is a branched crack. In all other cases, you can continue driving with window damage, although it is good to take a critical look yourself. Does the damaged windscreen distract while driving and could cause dangerous situations? Then you can always choose to replace the windscreen anyway.

What does a new Citroën C4 windscreen cost?

You already have a new windscreen for your Citroën C4 for €349. We should add here that it is wise to take a look at the different options before looking at the price, because the range of Citroën C4 windscreens is wide with us. All our windscreens are considerably cheaper than the automotive glass at your Citroën dealer, which may be a little strange. After all, the quality is identical. However, Citroën windscreens come with a brand logo that ensures exclusivity, which automatically means a significantly higher price.

Our replacement Citroën C4 windscreens are so much cheaper that even second-hand automotive glass for this model is more expensive than our new windscreens. So if you want to make sure you choose a Citroën C4 windscreen with the best value for money, you will always end up with us.

Can you replace the Citroën C4 windscreen yourself?
