The Citroën C5 Aircross, a compact crossover SUV from France, is a model that has become fairly popular and at the time of writing, the model is still in production. Since there are already more than 6,500 of this currently driving around in the Netherlands, chances are that this model will climb quite a bit more in the list of Citroën's best-selling cars in the Netherlands. There are three models that can be called the predecessors of the Citroën C5 Aircross and they are the Citroën C4 Aircross, the Citroën C5 Estate and the Citroën C4 Spacetourer. The concept model was introduced back in 2015 and this model was launched in China in 2017. Europe had to wait another year. In 2018, model year 2019 arrived on the market and these models rolled out of the Rennes plant, thanks in part to the 100 million investment from the PSA Group.
This is well reflected in the model itself, by the way, as the Citroën C5 Aircross is packed with interesting features from Citroën's Advanced Comfort programme. The large panoramic roof, the innovative, comfortable suspension thanks to the new hydraulic system, and then come the other features and gimmicks. Such as the digital screen on the dashboard with a touchscreen, numerous ADAS systems (such as emergency braking system, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition) and also plenty of different engines to connect directly to the wide market for SUV buyers.
To further connect with the international market, Citroën also released the C5 Aircross as a plug-in-hybrid. This model has an all-electric range of around 50 kilometres. In 2022, the hybrid would get a major upgrade that would make the PHEV even more interesting.
In 2022, the models without a plug-in also got a facelift, mainly addressing the front end, the rear getting minor tweaks and the interior getting new features.
Citroën is still doing plenty of marketing for the model. The advert below clearly shows (for a change) why this could be an interesting model for potential buyers.
