Cheap windscreen replacement for your Citroën C6

When it comes to more luxurious, innovative cars about which opinions are highly divided, it is often about the Citroën C6. The French brand has done everything it can to compete in the higher market segment, but in doing so has made choices that are far from to everyone's taste. Nevertheless, the model has become a reasonable success. Do you have a Citroën C6 whose windscreen needs replacing? Then you can come to us for new windscreens with the best value for money.

Before we look at our automotive glass prices for this model, let's take a closer look at the exciting Citroën C6, which was (remarkably) praised even by the gentlemen of Top Gear.

2005-2012: the European Citroën C6

Many a fan of French cars hoped the C6 would come earlier, around 2000. After all, the Citroën XM,
the C6's predecessor, had been in need of replacement for some time and Citroën showed the C6 Lignage at the Geneva Motor Show back in 1999. Yet it would take until 2005 for the new model to hit the market. Why it took five years longer than expected is not entirely clear, especially since this left a gap of six years between the Citroën XM (last model in 2000) and the introduction of the Citroën C6.

The idea behind the new model was bold. The French wanted to develop an exclusive model with a completely fresh, new style. To compete with the other big brands in the E-segment of the market, Citroën crammed every possible feature into the new C6, including HUD, lane-keeping assistance, turn-by-turn headlights, adaptive rear spoiler and even the Hydractive 3+ system that provided much better roadholding. How much better that is, you can see below.

While the test seems completely irrelevant (how often do you think you drive your car on the inside track of a race track?), this is not the case. It shows how special the Citroën's suspension and handling are compared to its competitors, and you can hear the surprise in Jeremy's voice when he says it feels like driving over silk.

China takes over in 2016

In 2012, the Citroën C6 was taken out of production. It would take four years for China to pick up production of this model. Here, the model would then remain in production until 2023, partly to meet demand for larger, more luxurious cars.

Opinions differ on the design of the Citroën C6

Citroën's bold approach made tongues wag. Some people called the model an airship, a model that had been overworked or a complete ship on the road. Remarkably, the gentlemen of Top Gear, along with numerous other automotive journalists, were actually very enthusiastic about this model. The C6 was the topic of conversation when Clarkson and May said aloud that ‘France is the only country where luxury cars can still be made well’.

How big a success is the Citroën C6?

Not. Citroën predicted it would sell an average of 20,000 models a year throughout its production period. The C6 fell far short of this. Indeed, a total of 23,400 were made between 2005 and 2012, which is about 8,000 per year (instead of the 20,000). Does that mean the model completely flopped? Not quite, as Citroën's expectations were particularly high for such an exclusive model in a market segment in which the BMW 5 Series and the Audi A6 were already strongly positioned. Besides, it seems that the Citroën C6 became primarily a model with which the French wanted to show their muscle.

The Citroën C6 was sold just over 800 times
in the Netherlands, dangling at the bottom of the list of Citroën's best-selling models in the Netherlands, along with the Citroën Nemo, Citroën Jumper, Citroën Evasion and the Citroën C-Zero.

The advert below is recognisable to anyone who has driven a car for the first time that felt special, fresh and great. At the same time, this is a typical Citroën advert, because of all the innovative gimmicks, spectacular features and ADAS systems that make the model special, you don't actually see anything.

When should the windscreen of your Citroën C6 be replaced?

Windscreen damage is annoying, but when should your car's windscreen really be replaced? Windscreen replacement is necessary when the Citroën C6 windscreen can no longer be repaired and the glass damage is dangerous while driving. Do you have damage in the windscreen and is this in the driver's field of vision, involving a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or a branched crack? If so, your windscreen will need to be replaced, as your car will no longer pass the MOT (and driving with this damage can be particularly risky as the windscreen damage can be distracting and reflect incoming light in unpredictable ways).

In all other cases, you can continue driving with the damaged windscreen. Above all, decide for yourself to what extent the damage is distracting while driving and whether the damage to your exclusive C6 bothers you.

What does a new Citroën C6 windscreen cost?

You already have a new Citroën C6 windscreen for € 1499.00. This makes our C6 windscreens significantly cheaper than the original windscreens that are at your Citroën dealer, and the reason behind this is actually special. This is because the quality of the automotive glass is identical, but the presence of a brand logo ensures that the original windscreens have an exclusive character, and that's what you (unwittingly) pay for. So if you want to make sure you choose the best value for money, opt for our replacement Citroën C6 windscreens.
