Cheap windscreen replacement for your Citroën DS4

The Citroën DS4 is a special model in many ways. In fact, this model changed manufacturers midway through its life cycle and seems to be primarily a car placed between two models to claim as much market share as possible. Both generations have been somewhat successful and should you have a DS4 whose windscreen needs replacing, you have come to the right place.

Before we show you how our Citroën DS4 windscreens can be so cheap, let's take a closer look at this particular model.

The Citroën DS4, is it or is it not a Citroën?

The DS4 is a model that has been in production since 2010, and Citroën connoisseurs know what this means for this model. The DS4 was a Citroën until 2015, but in that year DS Automobiles would become an independent company and remove the Citroën logo from its cars. This is also directly why the DS models received a facelift in 2015, so that the models would only have the DS logo.

2011: the DS4 enters the market

In 2011, the Citroën DS4 entered the market, a model that leaned heavily on the second-generation Citroën C4. The new model immediately had quite a few peculiarities, including rear side windows that cannot be lowered and engines made in a collaboration between PSA and BMW, while Citroën initially wanted to bring the engines from the Citroën C5 to this model. This model was also immediately praised for its design. Auto Bild (leading German car magazine), for instance, proclaimed the DS4 the most beautiful car.

In 2018, production of the first generation of the Citroën DS4 was stopped.

A 2015 facelift for the DS4

In the meantime, however, the model would get another facelift, and this one is much bigger than the average facelift of a car. Indeed, with the facelift in 2015, ‘Citroën’ disappeared completely from the model, which would now be called DS4. In fact, DS Automobiles became an independent company in 2015 and is no longer part of Citroën.

During the facelift, a new version was also added to the range, the DS4 Crossback, a much tougher version of the DS4 with larger wheels and wheel arches. The interior was also modernised, and with the long list of tweaks and name changes, it is just questionable whether this would not be better called generation 1.5 rather than a facelift.

The second generation in 2021

The DS4 got a second generation in 2021 built on the EMP2 platform, just like the Opel Astra L (the larger version) and the Peugeot 308 (third generation). The second generation of the DS4 stands between the DS3 and the DS7 Crossback, something that the name already somewhat gives away.

Has the Citroën DS4 been a success?

Despite its remarkable life and design awards, the Citroën DS4
and DS4
never really became sales hits. Even if we add up the sales figures of both models, at the time of writing we only barely exceed 3,000 units sold in the Netherlands. That means the models together still score worse than the Citroën DS5 and just slightly better than the Citroën C8 and the Citroën C4 SpaceTourer.

By the way, this is not very surprising. The DS4 is a model that had to accommodate customers for whom the DS3 was too small, but the DS5 was too big. That means the French wanted to serve a particularly small market with the DS4. And fair's fair, the advert below couldn't really motivate us to drive to the Citroën dealerships at the time either.

When should the Citroën DS4 windscreen be replaced?

Windscreen damage can be quite annoying and inconvenient, which is exactly why there are strict laws regarding windscreen damage. Nevertheless, in many cases, you may simply continue driving with a chip or crack in the windscreen. However, is it a star at least 2 centimetres in diameter or a branched crack and is this damage in the driver's field of vision? Then your car will be rejected for the windscreen damage at the next MOT. The windscreen will have to be replaced because damage of this magnitude in this spot simply carries too much risk. This is because you can easily be distracted while driving, and the damage can also cause light falling in (such as from the headlights of your oncoming cars) to reflect unpredictably, blinding you.

What does a new Citroën DS4 windscreen cost?

When you choose our replacement automotive glass, you can have a new Citroën DS4 windscreen for as little as €499 (including VAT). This makes our car windows significantly cheaper than the windscreens your Citroën dealer has in front of you, and the reason is somewhat striking. This is because the quality of the automotive glass is identical ( after market car windows are often made in the same factories in exactly the same way), but because a brand logo gives the original windscreens an exclusive character, it makes for a significantly higher price.

This difference is so great that our new Citroën DS4 windscreens are often still cheaper than used car windows for this model, making it immediately clear where you will succeed for DS4 windscreens with the best value for money.
