The Citroën DS5 is one of the models that lost the Citroën logo at some point and is one of the more luxurious, larger models in the DS line-up, which has caused quite a bit of interest. Do you own a Citroën DS5 or a DS5 and need a windscreen replacement? Then you can find cheap new windscreens for your car with us, without compromising on quality.
Of course, we first look together at the particular model and whether it has become the success Citroën and DS Automobiles hoped for while designing this car.
The Citroën DS5 was first shown in 2011 and the same year the model went into production. This would become Citroën's first car that would never be made in Citroën factories; it chose to use Peugeot's Sochaux plant.
Although the name suggests that the Citroën DS5 is descended from the Citroën C5, this is not the case. The model shares the platform (PF2) with the Peugeot 3008 and has much in common with the Lancia Delta, which is on the same platform. However, the DS5 is the model that was supposed to fill the gap left by the Citroën C5 hatchback, as that model was taken out of production. Its unusual design that resembles a mix between a hatchback and an estate ensured that it did indeed succeed.
In 2012, Citroën also decided to make a hybrid version of the DS5 in the form of a convertible.
All models in the DS line-up received a facelift in 2015, but not the DS5. This model was simply relaunched, but now without the Citroën logos because by 2015, DS Automobiles had become an independent company and no longer produced cars under the Citroën banner. The DS3 and DS4 received many more modifications, but apparently DS did not feel this was necessary for the DS5.
When looking at absolute numbers or market share, the DS5 is a model that remains under the radar everywhere, and may put itself in a damn corner next to the DS4. But with luxury cars with attention to detail automatically comes a higher price and that means those absolute sales figures are not as relevant as with mass-market models like the Citroën C1, Volkswagen Golf or Opel Astra. This is also reflected in the competition of the DS5, where we find models like the Volkswagen CC and the BMW 3-Series.
At the time of writing, the Citroën DS5 has been sold some 4,000 times in the Netherlands, where the DS5 comes off meagre with almost 600 units. The explanation for this is that the model received a lot of attention especially at its introduction and sold particularly well at the time, after which sales figures have steadily declined.
What is striking, however, is that Citroën did not manage to make any special, funny or even amusing advertisements for this model, while the French brand often shows funny things in terms of marketing. We say nothing further about it and leave the judgement to you.
With daily use of your car, the risk of windscreen damage is inevitable. After all, car windows are made of glass and glass can break. In far from all cases, there is reason to panic in case of windscreen damage, as the windscreen of the DS5 consists of two layers of glass with a layer of PVB film that holds the window together, even in case of windscreen damage. In which cases does the windscreen of your DS5 need to be replaced? This is the case when it is a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or a branched crack, but only when this damage is in the driver's field of vision.
In all other cases, you may continue driving with window damage and this damage is not a reason for rejection at the MOT. If the damage is disturbing or annoying, you can of course always opt to replace the windscreen.
If you opt for our after market automotive glass, you will already have a new DS5 windscreen for €499 (including VAT). This makes our windscreens much cheaper than the automotive glass the brand dealer will sell you, while the quality is identical. Indeed, our replacement car windows are often made in the same factories as the original automotive glass, but because our products do not feature brand logos that ensure exclusivity, with us the price is significantly lower.
The price difference between after market DS5 windscreens and original windscreens is so great that our new DS5 car windows are often still cheaper than second-hand automotive glass for this model. This ensures that you can always come to us for the best value for money.
Not sure if you can replace the windscreen of your Citroën DS5 yourself? Then this is a good time to order windscreen replacement with it when you add a new DS5 windscreen to your shopping basket. Your car's windscreen should be replaced properly to avoid damage to yourself, the car and the new windscreen. Our professional fitting partners replace car windows on-site throughout the Netherlands and Belgium, meaning you can simply leave your car in the car park at work, the shopping centre or in your own driveway.
