The Visa has been a success number from Citroën, which is remarkable considering that the model has only one generation yet has sold more than a million copies. Tens of thousands of the Citroën Visa have also been sold in the Netherlands. If you have one and need a windscreen replacement, you can come to us for car windows with the best value for money. In addition, all windscreens are easy to order online and you can also always opt for on-site windscreen replacement by specialists with us.
Before delving further into our products and services, let's take a look at Citroën's Visa and the reason behind its success.
Immediately in 1978, the Visa entered the market in two different versions, the Club and the Spécial, although the Super E with a 1124cc Peugeot engine would soon follow. These engines were as economical as those of the 2CV, although they would be considerably more powerful. This contributed to its success, as fuel was not exactly cheap during this period (due to the oil crises).
Diesel versions of the Visa, incidentally, would not follow until 1984, borrowing engines from the Peugeot 205.
The Visa had two facelifts or updates. First in 1981, where the original interior was retained and so was the dashboard. The model name was changed to Citroën Visa II. In 1984, the model was updated again, where the Visa did get a new dashboard, turn signals that switched off automatically (the first Citroën with this feature) but the unique steering wheel was retained. The model's name was not changed during this update.
Despite the facelift and update, the Citroën Visa would only see one generation and production ceased in 1988. The model would be succeeded by the Citroën AX, which in turn would also be a success and borrow particularly heavily from its successful predecessor.
The Citroën Visa was in production for about 10 years (1978-1988) and over 1,250,000 units were made during these 10 years. Add to that the sales numbers of the Liuzhou Wuling LZW (the Chinese variant of the model from 1991 to 1994) and the figures run much higher. The low entry price, the fuel-efficient nature of the car in a time of oil crises and the reliability of the model led to the Visa becoming a huge success, especially for an unremarkable model like this.
This is the moment when we can show you one of Citroën's better advertisements. Indeed, about half a century old and for many readers and viewers will be strongly reminiscent of the now almost forgotten ‘Allo Allo’.
Windscreen damage is annoying and when your Citroën Visa's windscreen gets damaged while driving, for example by a splashing stone, it may mean that your Visa's windscreen needs to be replaced. However, in the case of this model, it could also be that you have your eye on a used car and want to know whether its windscreen needs replacing, so you can already take into account the cost and possibly the price you want to offer.
When determining whether the windscreen needs to be replaced, the size and location of the glass damage will be considered. Is the damage in the field of vision and is this a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres? Then the windscreen must be replaced because the car will no longer pass the inspection. In all other cases, you may continue driving with damaged windscreen, although you are always free to still opt for windscreen replacement yourself.
You already have a new Citroën Visa windscreen for €299, including VAT. While that is considerably cheaper than the windscreens offered by the Citroën dealer, the quality is identical. Indeed, the car windows are often even made in the same place using the same machines. The price difference is in a brand logo that gives the original windscreens an exclusive character, without the logo doing anything for the windscreen itself. This means that you always get the best value for money from our replacement car windows.
The difference in price between our after-market car windows and Citroën original windscreens is so great that our windscreens are often still cheaper than second-hand car windows for this model.
Is it a wise plan to replace the windscreen of your car yourself? If you are experienced in window replacement, replacing the windscreen of a Citroën Visa is not that difficult. However, if you have little or no experience with car window replacement, we strongly discourage you from getting started with the job yourself. This is because replacing car windows is a precise and extensive job where a lot can go wrong. It would be a shame if your new car window or your car were damaged during the car window replacement process. That is why we collaborate with professional fitting partners who replace the windscreen of your Citroën Visa on-site in the Netherlands and Belgium.
If you are experienced in car window replacement or know someone who can replace the windscreen of your Citroën Visa, you can also order the windscreen only from us, i.e. without fitting and possibly even without delivery. We work together with numerous garages and professionals and will be happy to help you customise it too.
Are you looking for a new windscreen for a Citroën Visa, with or without on-site windscreen replacement, and do you want to be sure that you are not paying too much and that you are choosing a high-quality windscreen? Then you have come to the right place. Of course, you can also count on optimum ordering convenience. For example, if you cannot find what you are looking for or if you have any questions about our products or our way of working, you can always contact us. That way we can help you personally.
