The Dacia Sandero has a lot in common with the Dacia Logan, although its wheelbase is a bit shorter and it only came onto the market in 2007. It is one of many collaborations between Renault and Dacia and this model would become Dacia's biggest success number in the Netherlands, (narrowly) knocking the Logan off its throne. Do you have a Dacia Sandero with windscreen damage and need it replaced? Then you can come to us for auto glass with the best value for money.
Before we go into our windscreens for the Dacia Sandero, let's take a closer look at this model. How did this compact car become such a huge success and to what extent did Top Gear's hype contribute to it?
The Dacia Sandero (marketed as the Renault Dacia in some markets) saw the light of day in 2007. Much inspiration was taken from the Dacia Logan, which was already a great success at the time, but had never been developed with the Western European market in mind. In 2008, the first models of the Sandero arrived at European dealerships, although Brazilian dealers already had the scoop in late 2007.
That the Sandero did target the Western European market can be seen from the fact that the first generation was already directly in line with European guidelines, including airbags and a Bosch 8.1 ABS with emergency braking system.
One of the factors that contributed greatly to the Sandero's success was the relatively early development of the crossover, which would be named Dacia Sandero Stepway. Incidentally, this model was also launched first in Brazil. It took until September 2009 for this model to come to Europe.
In 2012, the second generation of the Sandero was shown to the public, including the second generation of the Sandero Stepway. Interestingly, it again used the Logan as a source of inspiration, but copied the dashboard from another successful model: the Dacia Lodgy. Incidentally, Dacia's target market became even clearer with the second generation: together with the Dacia Duster, it would become the cheapest B-segment cars in the UK. Another reason for the great success of this fresh model. The second generation received a facelift in 2016 and again in 2019. The latest facelift would only hit the market in Brazil.
The third generation hit the market in 2020, at the same time as the third generation of the Dacia Logan. The third generation was built on the CMF-B platform and featured only 3-cylinder engines. Although it too was placed in the lower segment, this generation did get numerous features such as automatic windscreen wipers, electric sunroof, reversing camera, automatic air conditioning and parking assistance.
Before the production of the Dacia Sandero, the Dacia Logan was Dacia's best-selling model in the Netherlands. The Sandero has taken over the title, although the difference in sales figures is narrow (21,267 for the Sandero against 20,585 for the Logan at the time of writing and both cars are still in production now). Both models need not fear competition from the Dacia Duster, which is closing the gates for the top three with just over 13,000 models.
Looking at the Sandero's European success, we have to cite Top Gear, in which James May did think very highly of the Dacia Sandero and it literally became a recurring joke on the programme. Many still consider this the best advertisement for the Sandero ever.
There are numerous ways in which the windscreen can be damaged. However, there are only two cases where the windscreen needs to be replaced on the Dacia Sandero. Is it windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision and is it a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least two centimetres? Then the windscreen has to be replaced, as this is a rejection at the MOT. It is also dangerous because incident light (such as sunshine or the lights of your oncoming car) is reflected in an unpredictable way. In addition, any distraction in the field of vision is a risk while driving.
A new windscreen for the Dacia Sandero will cost you €299 with us. The model years 2008 to 2013 almost always require a new windscreen moulding as well (€ 20, to be ordered directly along). Prices do not include fitting and delivery. Choose whether you want delivery and/or fitting and whether the windscreen has to be delivered to the Netherlands or Belgium, and our website will immediately calculate the correct price for your order.
Our windscreens for the Dacia Sandero are much cheaper than those at your dealer. This is due to the lack of a brand logo in the after market car windows, which means they do not become unnecessarily exclusive. Other than that, the windscreens are otherwise identical. They are made in exactly the same way and often even in the same factories as Dacia's own automotive glass.
You can come to us not only for automotive glass with the best value for money. We also think about service. That is why our certified fitting partners replace car windows throughout Belgium and the Netherlands on location, so that you can simply do what you need or want to do.
