Cheap windscreen replacement for your Fiat Bravo, Brava or Marea

The story behind the Fiat Brava, Fiat Bravo and Fiat Marea is a special one. They are three models that are strongly related to each other, but at the same time are completely unique and yet have exactly the same windscreen. Despite a relatively short production period, the models have become successes and Fiat has received much praise for the design. Do you have a Brava, Bravo or Marea and need a windscreen replacement? Then you have come to the right place.

Before we tell you how our Fiat windscreens can be so cheap, let's take a look at these models and the story behind this range.

The Fiat Bravo and Fiat Brava: far from identical models

The fiat Bravo and Brava did not come out of the blue. They were part of a large-scale plan to give Fiat a new image and compete with competitors in countries outside Italy (where Fiat has been doing very well for decades). Immediately after developing the Fiat Coupé and the Fiat Barchetta (two tougher models), the team went to work on the Brava and Bravo that were to replace the successful Fiat Tipo.

The Bravo, the 3-door hatchback, was the model designed for better response and precision, whereas the Brava, the 5-door fastback, was all about comfort. That Fiat really wanted to aim high can be seen from the fact that both models were fitted with completely new engines, including two turbo diesels.

The small family cars immediately caught on and in 1999 they were given a facelift, using the 1.4 litre engine from the Fiat Punto to expand the engine range, and the models were given a new dashboard, a new grille, automatic air conditioning (borrowed from the Fiat Coupé) and with that the models were able to continue until 2003, the year production ceased. In Europe, by the way, the models disappeared from the market as early as 2001.

A new Fiat Bravo in 2007

That did not end the story of the Fiat Bravo, however, as Fiat decided to revive the model in 2007. This was to be another small family car that, above all, looked much more modern than its predecessor. The new model was also miles ahead in terms of technology, as the new Bravo could display text messages on the dashboard and works with voice activation. It is also possible to connect an MP3 player or usb stick so that the entertainment system can play MP3 files while driving.

What about the Fiat Marea?

The Fiat Marea is the saloon and station wagon version of the Brava and Bravo, and was marketed as a replacement for the Fiat Tempra and the Fiat Croma (which was actually considerably larger). The production period of the Fiat Marea (Weekend) is a separate story. Sales dropped sharply in 2002 when the Fiat Stilo came out and was replaced by the Fiat Stilo Multiwagon, but in Turkey and Brazil, the Marea and Marea Weekend simply remained in production and even received a facelift in 2006. Only in mid-2007 would this model really be taken out of production.

How big a success did the Fiat Bravo, Brava and Marea become?

Were we to add up the total sales numbers of the Fiat Bravo and Fiat Marea, the models would already be in fifth place in a list of best-selling Fiat models in the Netherlands, behind the Fiat 500, Fiat Uno, Fiat Punto and Fiat Panda.

Top Gear has always been a leading, much-discussed programme that could make or crack models. And when you take the time to watch just the first minute, in which Clarkson demonstrates without diversions why the Fiat Bravo stands out from, say, the Opel Astra, Ford Escort, Nissan Almera or Toyota Corolla.

When should the windscreen of these models be replaced?

The rules around windscreen damage are the same for the Fiat Brava, Fiat Bravo and Fiat Marea. Indeed, they are the same for all vehicles participating in traffic. Windscreen damage is cause for rejection at the MOT if it is damage in the windscreen in the driver's field of vision involving a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres.

Is the windscreen damage limited or is the chip or crack not in the driver's field of vision? Then you may continue driving with a damaged windscreen, but keep an eye on the extent of the damage. If there are large temperature differences between either side of the window, the windscreen may crack further.

What does a new Fiat Brava/Bravo/Marea windscreen cost?

You already have a new Fiat Brava, Bravo or Marea windscreen for €299 (the windscreens for all these models are identical). This price includes VAT, but does not include the cost of the windscreen moulding (which you can of course order directly along with the windscreen). This means that our new windscreens are much cheaper than those from the Fiat dealer, while the quality of the automotive glass is identical.

The reason for the big price difference is the brand logo that is in the original windscreens. This logo creates an exclusive character and this is included in the price, while it does nothing else for the windscreen. The difference is so great that our new, quality windscreens are even cheaper than second-hand car windows for these models.
