Cheap windscreen replacement for your Fiat Coupé

The Fiat Coupé was a model from Italy that hit the media a year too early and that looked particularly spectacular and special, but would never really make waves. Indeed, less than 100,000 of them would be made in total, of which only a few hundred were sold in the Netherlands. Do you have a Coupé and are you looking for a cheap car window, but do not want to compromise on quality? Then you have come to the right place.

Before we tell you that a new Fiat Coupé windscreen will cost you less than €600 with us and you can immediately call in professionals for windscreen replacement, let's take a look at this sporty-looking Fiat model.

The Fiat Coupé was no surprise in 1993

As early as 1992, the Fiat Coupé was in the media, as pictures had been secretly taken by a journalist during tests with the car on a track. Production started in 1993, but the first model would not drive out of the factory until January 1994, built on the platform of the Fiat Tipo (and later adopted and remodelled into the Peugeot 406 Coupé in 1996).

The Coupé was marketed with two different engines on offer, which would be expanded in 1996 with a 2.0 5-cylinder and a 2.0 turbo 5-cylinder. In the same year, the model also got a few minor tweaks, including a new front grille, a new steering wheel and leather on the door panel. Fiat also chose to replace the digital clock with an analogue one.

Looking at the engines for the models, we can see where Fiat had its attention while developing the model. For example, the 2.0 16V Turbo has 187 hp with 290 Nm of torque and the 2.0 20V Turbo has 217 hp with 310 Nm of torque. With an (unladen) weight of between 1,200 and 1,300 kilograms, that's quite a lot of violence under the bonnet for the Fiat Coupé.

And that sounds pretty darn good.

The controversy surrounding the LE series

In 1998, Fiat released the Limited Edition (LE) for the Fiat Coupé, with numerous extra details (e.g. on the filler cap and mirrors), push-button to start the car, seats with red leather and a badge (unique for each car) with the production number on it near the rear-view mirror. However, unclear information from Fiat caused quite a bit of controversy around this model. Fiat reportedly said that a maximum of 300 copies would be made, but it soon turned out that this rose to more than 1,000 (probably 1,400 total), which caused the value of the LE models to plummet. Probably 300 was the number of units for the UK market and therefore not worldwide.

How successful did the Fiat Coupé become?

When looking at absolution figures, the Fiat Coupé was not a success number with a lifetime production number of 72,262 units. Of course, this is unfair, because the Coupé is not a standard model that ended up in the driveway of the average household. The Fiat Coupé is more of a special model that was given a special status rather than one that the whole of Europe would flock to the dealers for.

We can clearly see this in the Netherlands too, as less than 300 units have been sold
here. This puts the model at the bottom of the list of best-selling Fiat models in the Netherlands, trailing only the Fiat Qubo, Fiat 124 and Fiat Talento.

Incidentally, in the advertisements for this model, Fiat again drew heavily on Italian pride and national feeling. Below you can see the ad that aired worldwide for the Fiat Coupé.

When should the windscreen of the Fiat Coupé be replaced?

Damage in the windscreen can lead to dangerous situations, as it can significantly impair your view of the road, and it can even cause incoming light to reflect unpredictably. But in which cases should the windscreen actually be replaced? That is in two situations. If it is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of more than 20 millimetres and this damage is in the driver's field of vision, then the windscreen of your Fiat Coupé needs to be replaced. Your car will then also no longer pass the MOT.

If the windscreen damage is in a different place or the extent is limited, you may choose to continue driving with the damaged windscreen. But with the low prices of our automotive glass, it may be a more attractive idea to still go for an intact windscreen and opt for windscreen replacement anyway.

What does a new Fiat Coupé windscreen cost?

Because you already have a new Fiat Coupé windscreen for €599 (including VAT, excluding the cost of a new moulding). Our windscreens are considerably cheaper than the car windows your Fiat dealer has for you, and there's a special reason for that. This is because the quality is identical, the windows are made in the same factories, but original car windows come with a brand logo that ensures an exclusive character. This makes for a (significantly) higher price, which means that our new windscreens are the best value for money.

Our new windscreens for the Fiat Coupé are so competitively priced that they are often still cheaper than second-hand car windows for this model (which are also much harder to find).

Can you replace the Fiat Coupé windscreen yourself?

If you do not know whether you can replace the Fiat Coupé windscreen yourself, we strongly discourage you from going ahead with windscreen replacement yourself. The risk of damaging the car, the new window or yourself is simply too great. To make things as easy as possible for you, we cooperate with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. They will ensure that you can be back on the road with an intact, clean windscreen in no time.
