Cheap windscreen replacement for your Fiat Ducato

The story of the Fiat Ducato is long, but not very unique if you know the history of Fiat and Stellantis. The Ducato is one of the models that came together from numerous collaborations and batch engineering and, partly because of its large size, became a moderate success. Do you have a Fiat Ducato and need a windscreen replacement? Then you have come to the right place. Because with us, you can find cheap windscreens for your Ducato without compromising on quality.

Before we explain how we are able to offer our windscreens so cheaply, let's take a look at the model that has been in production for more than 40 years.

1981: the birth year of the Fiat Ducato

The first generation of the Fiat Ducato was already directly part of a collaboration with Citroën (as part of PSA Peugeot Citroën), which had started in 1978. In 1981, this led to the arrival of the Fiat Ducato, alongside the Citroën C25, Peugeot J5 and Alfa Romeo AR6. The van, because that is what the Ducato could easily be called, came with a 2.0 4-cylinder petrol engine or a 1.9-litre diesel. Initially, there were only three versions: the base model, the S and the SX.

Incidentally, from this first generation of the Fiat Ducato would also come the Fiat Talento, a similar model but with a shorter wheelbase. This first-generation model would be in production from 1981 to 1994.

The second generation of the Fiat Ducato in 1993

When the second generation of the Fiat Ducato entered the market in 1993, it turned out that Sevel was still the maker of the model. Peugeot marketed the Peugeot Boxer alongside it, where Citroën opted for the name Citroën Jumper. Several versions were immediately launched, including the Ducato Passenger Transport (6-9 people) and the Goods Transport (12 cubic metres of cargo space). There was also a Combi, which combined the Passenger and Goods and had plenty of cargo space as well as room for passengers.

A facelift followed in 2002 with additional bumpers on the side and rear, and a new front grille. A number of engines were also added, but no other major changes were forthcoming.

A third generation 13 years later

When the third generation hit the market in 2006, the Ducato had long since proven its success. Indeed, a year before the third generation, the sales counter already passed the 3 million mark. Incidentally, this third generation started with the Jumper and Boxer, as the new Ducato would not be launched until 2008. The biggest change was mainly that the model had become stronger and could carry more. In terms of passenger and goods transport models, the existing layout remained.

Two facelifts for the Fiat Ducato

However, the third-generation Ducato did receive two facelifts. The first was in 2014 where the front end of the Ducato was completely redesigned. New engines were also introduced (Euro 6 standard), but Fiat chose not to fit Adblue engines, something almost all competitors did. In 2019, Fiat opted for Adblue after all, to meet Euro 6 standards, something that was very important for potential buyers who wanted to deploy these vans mainly in urbanised areas and would have to deal with environmental zones and extra charges.

After numerous ongoing modifications (in terms of engines and dashboard), another larger facelift for the Ducato came in 2024. During this facelift, mainly technological updates were made and all models were fitted with the same engine, namely the 2.2 B22 Multijet.

How successful has the Fiat Ducato become?

Looking at the Dutch market, we find the Fiat Ducato somewhere at the bottom of Fiat's list of best-selling models, with some 2,700 units sold at the time of writing.
This puts the model somewhat sadly between the Fiat Idea and the Fiat 500L, not really a place to be proud of.

But Fiat won't care about that, because looking at its international success, the Fiat Ducato has become an outright success story. Especially since as early as 2015, copy three million rolled out of the factory and production had to be scaled up to meet demand. With that, despite all the batch engineering, limited facelifts and highly similar models, the Ducato has become a hit for Fiat.

As you may already know, Fiat occasionally produces particularly good commercials, combining humour with information about the model that can get buyers to the dealers. Like the clip below:

And of course there are also adverts for the latest models that are a bit more serious, which we can't blame Fiat for. After all, the Ducato remains a model aimed at entrepreneurs.

When should the Fiat Ducato windscreen be replaced?

The windscreen of your Fiat Ducato needs to be replaced when the damage is in the driver's field of vision and there is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres. Your car will then also be rejected at the MOT because of the windscreen damage, which causes reduced visibility and can cause glare because incoming light (from the sun or headlights of your oncoming traffic, for example) is reflected in an unpredictable way.

In all other cases, you may choose to continue driving with the damaged windscreen, but before you decide to continue driving with a damaged windscreen, take a look below at the low prices of our new windscreens.

What does a new Fiat Ducato windscreen cost?

In fact, you already have a new Fiat Ducato windscreen for just €299 (including VAT). This is much cheaper than the windscreens offered by your Fiat dealer, while the quality of the automotive glass is identical. However, the original windscreens come with a brand logo and that little logo ensures that you are paying for exclusivity.

We don't do that and that ensures that our replacement Fiat windscreens are much cheaper. The price difference is so great that our new glass is often still cheaper than second-hand automotive glass for this model (and other models, of course).

Replace your Fiat windscreen yourself or outsource it anyway?

Are you planning to replace the windscreen of your Fiat Ducato yourself but not sure where to start? Then we strongly discourage you from getting started yourself. There is a high risk of damaging your car, the new windscreen or yourself during the job, which is why we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site. So you can simply leave your car in the driveway or the car park of your work or a shopping centre.

Do you have experience with windscreen replacement or do you know someone who can replace the Fiat Ducato windscreen for you? Then, of course, you can also order the new car windows from us without fitting. You can even choose to collect your order from us (by appointment) to save even more on costs.
