The Fiat Palio is a special model that once started as a trim of an existing model and evolved into a type for the global market with extra focus on development areas. Fiat's huge project ensured that this model was produced and sold in numerous different countries, making it a considerable success for the carmaker. Do you have a Fiat Palio with windscreen damage and want to know when the windscreen needs to be replaced and where to find cheap automotive glass without compromising on quality? Then you have come to the right place. Before we tell you all about it, let's take a look at the Palio that was supposed to conquer the world for Fiat.
The Fiat Palio was in production from 1996 to 2020, although this does not apply to all versions and all markets. Although Fiat was keen to make a uniform model for the global market, things worked out a little differently. All in all, the life cycle of the Palio can be divided into two generations, with the first generation having four distinct phases. The four phases are defined by the facelift versions made in the different years, with Fiat constantly making adjustments in the period between 1996 and 2011, without making huge changes. In fact, those only came in 2011 when the second generation of this model was launched.
For the basis of the new Palio, the Fiat Uno was used and almost the entire chassis was adopted for the new model without any modifications. Numerous engines were also taken from other models (including the Fiat Punto and Fiat Bravo) to put in the Palio in order to reduce costs.
The first facelift came in 2001 where the front end was completely revised and the interior was also completely revamped. This is also when the model got its own engines, including the Fire 16-valve 1.0 and 1.2 litre. The biggest surprise, however, was that the phase 2 version of the Fiat Palio would be the first Fiat to be made in China.
The second facelift (and thus phase 3 of the model) came in 2004, with the Brazilian version getting four airbags and the front of the model being modified for the European market. Here it is clear to see that ‘one model for the whole market’ would no longer hold true for the Palio. Certainly not when the Brazilians also got a the Fiat Palio 1.8R sports version, which was fitted with a 1.8-litre engine from General Motors.
In 2007 came the final facelift for the Palio, taking cues from the Fiat Grande Punto, remarkably a model that would then also enter the Brazilian market in 2008. The chassis remained the same, but the front, rear and sides were completely modified.
On 4 November 2011, the second generation of the Fiat Palio entered the Brazilian market. In 2017, production of the Palio would cease in Argentina, as factories there were set up to produce the Fiat Cronos.
In 2018, production of the hatchback stopped worldwide. Two years later, the estate version also followed, bringing an end to a long, successful production period of the Fiat Palio.
When looking at the success of the Fiat Palio, it is especially important to bear in mind that this was a model for the global market. And that is just as well, because in Europe this model hardly got off the ground. Indeed, the peak year in Europe was in 1999, where just over 52,000 units were sold, and even that is underwhelming for Fiat.
Looking at markets outside Europe, however, we see that this model was a success in China, Argentina, and especially in Brazil, where it became a hit. Here, sales figures were highest in 2007, when more than 220,000 units of this model were sold. That means Fiat did an excellent job, as a total of millions of cars were sold worldwide under the Fiat Palio label.
We could show you an advertisement of the Fiat Palio with Schumacher here, but there is another promotional video that is considerably bolder and funnier, although it has to be frankly admitted that this advertisement shows literally nothing about the model.
Car damage is always annoying, but for a model like the Fiat Palio, there are plenty of replacement parts to be found, both original and after market. When it comes to windscreen damage, it is always just a question of whether the windscreen needs to be replaced. There are two cases where you need to look for a new Fiat Palio windscreen because the car will no longer pass the MOT. This is when it is a branched crack or a chip at least 2 centimetres in diameter, but only when this windscreen damage is in the driver's field of vision.
If you opt for our products, you will already have a new Fiat Palio windscreen for €299. This makes our windscreens significantly cheaper than the original windscreens for this model, while the quality is identical. Indeed, our after market windscreens are often even made in the same factories as those used by Fiat itself. However, original windscreens incorporate a brand logo that ensures an exclusive character, and that character is factored into the price.
This means that not only can you find cheap car windows with us, but at the same time you don't compromise on quality. And to make things even easier, with us you can even arrange direct windscreen replacement by a professional, without having to drive to a workshop or garage.
Because replacing a windscreen is not something you can do yourself from a manual or a YouTube video. It is an extensive job that requires you to ensure that the new windscreen and the car are not damaged. That is why we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site, so you never have to hit the streets with a badly damaged windscreen. You can easily arrange this when ordering the new windscreen.
Are you a professional or do you know someone who can replace the windscreen of your Fiat Palio? Then of course you can also order new windscreens without fitting. You can even choose to collect your order from us, something that many garage owners already do in order to offer even cheaper windscreens to their customers. Collection is, of course, only possible by appointment.
If you are looking for a new Fiat Palio windscreen with the best value for money, you have come to the right place. You choose whether to have your windscreen replaced by a professional and whether you want the new windscreen delivered or pick it up yourself.
