Before we tell you all about our new Fiat Scudo windscreens and options around on-site windscreen replacement, let's take a look at the model that was given rather little chance of success.
The Fiat Scudo is a medium-sized van and would be placed by the Italians between the Fiat Doblo and Fiat Ducato in terms of size. When the first generation hit the market in 1995, it soon became clear that this was a larger series and that the Citroën Jumpy and the Peugeot Expert would be the same types, but with a different name. The main advantage of these models was that the cargo space was exactly the length of two Europallets, so very practical for people who need to transport a lot. The biggest disadvantage was that, once again, three models from three different car manufacturers entered the market, which were pretty much identical except for the label.
A number of things happened during the second generation. First of all, Fiat made sure that more different versions came on the market, including a minibus that was excellent for transporting people instead of Europallets. Models with a longer wheelbase also arrived, and here we saw plenty of opportunities to customise the Fiat Scudo (which was also particularly done by handy people).
As we wrote earlier, the Scudo became one of the models that fell victim to badge engineering when looking at the European market. Its counterparts simply got more attention and this is well reflected in production and sales figures. At the time of writing, for instance, around 500 units have been sold in the Netherlands, putting the Scudo low on the list of best-selling Fiat models. Among others, it has to beat the Fiat Fiorino and the Fiat 600 both, but wins over models like the Fiat Barchetta and Fiat Coupé.
Looking at the advertisements for the model, we must also admit that even Fiat seemed to have little inspiration in finding fun angles or ways to give the model extra exposure. We have posted below the ad for the Fiat Scudo in the UK, an advert taken verbatim from the Italian and featuring different (English-language) text on the screen.
Windscreen damage is always annoying when it comes to the car, especially since the risk of windscreen damage simply comes with the daily or weekly use of the car. But in which cases does the windscreen of the Fiat Scudo really need to be replaced? That is only in two cases. If the damage is in the driver's field of vision and is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of 20 millimetres or more, your car will no longer pass the MOT and driving on with the damaged windscreen is dangerous. In all other cases, you can choose to continue driving with the damaged windscreen, although it can certainly pay to check out the low price of our new windscreens before making a choice.
In fact, you already have a new Fiat Scudo windscreen for as little as €299 making this very affordable even when windscreen replacement is not covered by car insurance. Remarkably, our replacement windscreens are significantly cheaper than those from the Fiat dealer, while the quality is identical. Indeed, automotive glass is often even made in the same factories. The big price difference lies in a brand logo that creates an exclusive character that is reflected in the price. Of course, we do not participate in this, which means you can always find new car windows with the best value for money with us.
To make it even easier for you, we cooperate with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. This is practical, because without experience or the necessary technical knowledge, you cannot replace the windscreen of your Fiat Scudo yourself. In addition, thanks to on-site windscreen replacement, you will never have to take to the streets with a damaged windscreen, because our partners simply come to your car.
If you can replace the Fiat Scudo windscreen yourself or if you know someone who can do the job for you, we can also provide you with car windows excluding fitting. That way, you (like numerous other specialists and garage owners) can save on costs.
If you have a Fiat Scudo with windscreen damage or you are looking at a used car whose windscreen needs to be replaced, you can order a cheap new windscreen today without compromising on quality. If you cannot find what you are looking for or if you have any questions about our products or our way of working, please do not hesitate to contact us.
