Cheap windscreen replacement for your Fiat Stilo

The Fiat Stilo is a special model from Fiat. Not because it is a spectacular or very good car, but because actually almost everything went wrong and the Italians made a hefty loss on this production line, with every model sold producing red figures in the books. The model flopped, but more than 15,000 units of this model were sold in the Netherlands of which a good number are still registered. Do you have a Stilo and need its windscreen replaced? If so, you can come to us for cheap new car windows of the best quality, with the option to arrange on-site windscreen replacement immediately.

Before we delve further into our cheap windscreens, let's take a look with you at why the Stilo has become a huge loss leader for Fiat.

A generation for the Fiat Stilo from 2000 to 2010

The Fiat Stilo is a small family car and arrived at dealerships in 2001 to succeed the Fiat Bravo and Brava. Eventually, the Fiat Bravo would succeed the Stilo again in most countries in 2010.

The story of the Stilo did not start badly. Indeed, in 2002, it just missed out on the European Car of the Year award (it finished behind the Peugeot 307 and the Renault Laguna), and thus a success seemed to be on its way. That would be short-lived, as a lot went wrong. A small overview:

  • Car enthusiasts and journalists called the model ‘far too German’, something that is never a good thing when it comes to Italian cars.
  • The engines were too weak for the model, especially the 1.2 litre got the brunt of critics' criticism.
  • The weight of the car was far too high, which made the model slow and boring to drive.
  • A further consequence was that fuel consumption was far too high, especially for a small family car.

All this ensured that sales numbers never took off, even when a large-scale advertising campaign was mounted featuring Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello (something that would only make the numbers that much redder). Although we readily admit that this did produce some nice spots.

The Fiat Stilo, such a big flop that Fiat had to add quite a bit of money

Fiat itself had thought that some 400,000 units of the Stilo would be sold annually and that it would be a resounding success. The opposite was true. The model became a huge flop and less than 800,000 units would be made and sold over a 10-year period, and in Brazil the counter struggled to get just over 100,000, which is incredibly bad for this model in this class for Fiat. The model became an outright tragedy for the Italian company, which ended up losing around €2,750 per model sold.

The promotion team at Fiat still managed to pull out all the stops for the adverts, though, because the fact that you could make music with the Stilo had to get you straight to the dealer...

Interestingly, the Fiat Stilo did have a fair amount of success in the Netherlands. Admittedly, a sales figure of 15,000
over the whole period is not great, but it does allow the model to compete with the Fiat Regata
and the Fiat Tempra, which can still be called a modest success.

When should the windscreen of your Fiat Stilo be replaced?

The rules around windscreen damage are the same for all models and are designed with road safety in mind. But when should the windscreen of your Fiat Stilo be replaced? After all, it is not the case that a new windscreen should be sought immediately for every kind of car window damage. On the contrary, only when the damage is in the driver's field of vision and there is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres, the windscreen should be replaced. This is because your car will no longer pass the MOT with this windscreen damage.

In all cases, you can therefore choose to continue driving with the damaged window, especially if you are not distracted while driving and the chip or crack does not bother you.

What does a new Fiat Stilo windscreen cost?

You already have a new windscreen for the Fiat Stilo for €299. This includes VAT (and excludes any costs for fitting and/or delivery). Our prices are thus much lower than those of Fiat dealers, which is unusual because the quality of the automotive glass is in fact identical. However, since the original windscreens are fitted with a brand logo, they have a more exclusive character and this is reflected in the price. If you want cheap car windows without compromising on quality, you have come to the right place. This is because our after market windscreens are often made in the same factories as the original Fiat car windows, but without the brand logo, the price is considerably lower.

Is replacing the Fiat Stilo windscreen yourself a good idea?

Not sure if you can replace your car's windscreen yourself? If so, we strongly advise against starting this job yourself. Accurate and correct fitting is important to avoid damage to the windscreen and the car. That is why we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site, so that you have nothing to worry about and can soon be back on the streets with a Fiat Stilo with an intact windscreen.
