Ford's F-Series is undeniably one of the American car brand's most iconic models. The model has become a resounding success worldwide, despite not even being marketed in all countries. We have now reached the 14th generation of the model and there is very little chance of Ford pulling the plug on the F-Series anytime soon, taking it steadily towards a century of production.
Do you own a Ford F-Series and need a windscreen replacement? Then you will find new Ford F-Series windscreens with the best value for money with us. Before we look at the price of our cheap automotive glass, let's make room for Ford's big model.
The Ford F-Series entered production in 1948 and is still in production at the time of writing. The Ford F-150 is the best-selling version, which has been the entry-level model since 1984. The F-Series was set up as a successor to Ford's pick-up models of passenger cars, but over the years it has evolved into much more than 'a successor'.
Most F-Series models were mainly aimed at the US market, Ford's home market. However, it soon became clear that there was a lot of demand for these models worldwide, which led to a hefty list of import models and a shift in focus to meet demand in these countries as well.
That the F-Series was particularly well suited to the US market can be seen from the fact that it was soon called the successor to the cowboy horse. The models were primarily designed to be functional and practical, but soon Ford would make sure that comfort would also be considered.
As it is not necessary or desirable to cover all generations in detail, but at the same time we do want to be complete, below is a short list of the generations and model years.
The latest generation of this model features completely new exterior panels and expanded V6 or V8 engine blocks. Ford has also added Active Drive Assist as a complete ADAS system to make it even easier and more comfortable to drive around in the F-Series.
The Ford F-150 Raptor is a special model in the series. Higher, more suspension and an even tougher look. With this model, Ford wanted to compete with the sportier pick-ups, something that clearly succeeded, by the way. The video below shows how the Ford Raptor, Toyota Hilux and Volkswagen Amarok compete on 12 different points.
Too long to watch? The Raptor won 9 out of 12 points.
The Ford F-150 Lightning may not be the most exciting version of the F-Series, but it is a model that shows Ford is ready for the future. After all, this model is fully electric, without compromising on the F-Series' rugged features. That it was in demand was immediately clear as Ford received more than 200,000 pre-orders. This is not very surprising, by the way, as Ford combines electric with Ford power. The more powerful versions come with a whopping 580 hp and 1051 Nm, although it should be added that the models themselves weigh almost 3,000 kilograms.
An analyst at Morgan Stanley, a major bank in America, calculated that the Ford F-Series is worth more than the Ford brand itself, a clear indication of how iconic the model has now become. Incidentally, it is hard to fathom how popular the model is. As early as 2021, for instance, the F-Series was the best-selling model in the United States for 45 years in a row (!), no doubt driven by the wide range of trims available in the US market.
The F-Series is also popular in the Netherlands, even when it has to be imported via detours. Yet the model is not likely to become a challenger to, say, a Mercedes Benz ML, Range Rover or BMW X5 to the F-Series, and there is a striking reason for that. This is because Ford's pick-up is extremely impractical in the Netherlands. There is hardly enough space in cities and in the average parking space in our country, the F-Series needs two parking bays, something that undoubtedly causes problems in today's society. The other brake on the model's popularity in the Netherlands is its high price. Thanks to all the import costs (mostly state coffers that need to be padded), the average price of an F-Series in the Netherlands comes to around €100,000.
Just to show you again how competent Ford's marketing machine is, below we have the advertisement for the Ford F-150 (the entry-level model that sells best, as the larger versions instantly look like complete trucks) for the Australian market, in which this is referred to as 'America's best-selling pick-up', because that's what generates interest when it comes to strong, large models.
A chipped windscreen is always annoying, but often not nearly as dramatic as certain advertisements would have you believe. In fact, as long as the windscreen damage is not in your field of vision and does not obstruct your view of the road, you can continue to drive with the damaged windscreen whenever you want. However, if the windscreen damage is in the driver's field of vision and involves a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or is a branched crack, the story becomes slightly different. Your windscreen will then have to be replaced, as the car will not pass inspection with this windscreen damage.
At the same time, it is good to remain critical. After all, an intact, clean windscreen offers the best view of the road. If the crack or chip is in the field of vision and distracting while driving, or you notice that you may be blinded because incoming light is reflected in an unpredictable way, it is a good idea to have the windscreen replaced now. It is cheaper than you think when you choose our replacement windscreens.
You already have a new Ford F-Series windscreen for €699.00. This is the price including VAT and excluding fitting and/or delivery. If you indicate your preferences when ordering, the price on the page will be adjusted immediately so that you always know exactly how much you are paying when you choose our car windows.
The price of our automotive glass is much lower than the price your dealer charges you. There is a reason for this. This is because your Ford dealer only offers windscreens with a brand logo. Although this brand logo does nothing for your windscreen, it does make it more exclusive, which makes the price significantly higher. So if you want to be sure you are choosing a new windscreen with the best value for money, choose our Ford F-Series windscreen.
If you are not sure if you can replace the windscreen of your Ford F-Series yourself, we strongly discourage you from getting started with your Ford yourself. Replacing the windscreen is an extensive job that needs to be done accurately with the right tools and knowledge. To completely unburden you, we work with certified fitting partners who replace car windows on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. This can also be done simply in your driveway, meaning you don't even have to drive to a garage to have your windscreen replaced.
