The Ford Tourneo Connect is the counterpart to the Transit Connect and is primarily intended to be a purebred MPV that should thus have huge appeal. The biggest problem for the Tourneo Connect has been competition in the market, as this model was placed in a saturated, competitive market segment. Do you have a Ford Tourneo Connect with a chipped windscreen and need to replace the windscreen? Then you will find windscreens with the best value for money with us.
Before we look at our automotive glass, let's take a closer look at this particular Ford model to see what makes the Tourneo Connect so special.
The Ford Tourneo Connect is the direct counterpart of the Ford Transit Connect, but without rear panels and with rear windows, plus extra seats. Ford called it an MPV with multiple ways to use the car, partly because the seats are easily hidden away. The label is therefore double: compact MPV/ leisure car.
Initially, by the way, this was not the idea behind the Tourneo Connect. Ford expected to sell a maximum of 1,000 models in the UK (Ford's focus market in Europe), thinking mainly of taxi companies, which was actually a bit too limited a market for a completely stand-alone model. By increasing the model's employability, Ford wanted to boost its sales potential, something that, incidentally, worked out very well and made the Tourneo Connect an interesting model.
When the Ford Tourneo Connect was launched on the market in 2002, it immediately faced stiff competition. Among others, the MPV had to compete with the Peugeot Partner, the Volkswagen Caddy (Tour version), the Citroën Berlingo and even the Fiat Doblo. Incidentally, this was known to Ford when the model was being developed. The idea was to adapt the Ford Transit Connect into a unique version that would ensure Ford would have more appeal in Europe.
In 2009, Ford first showed the electric Ford Tourneo Connect, a model with a 21 kWh battery pack with 50 kW electric motor and a range of 160 kilometres. The model had a maximum speed of 110 kilometres per hour and, partly because of this, remained under the radar.
The latest Ford Tourneo Connect models come with EcoBlue diesel engines and come as 5- or 7-seaters. Ford calls the latest models "the best car for picking up the kids, transporting goods or taking a weekend trip.
The Ford Tourneo Connect was developed to be a particularly versatile model for a large market, but the Tourneo Connect did not become the resounding success Ford was hoping for. This will mainly have had to do with the huge list of competitors, many of which have simply made a more solid name for themselves in Europe.
In addition, Ford's marketing machine, the key element that made the American company so big, has put rather little spectacle into its commercials, as you can see below. Not only is the versatility of the Tourneo Connect shown (in somewhat mediocre fashion), the versatility is also well reflected in terms of choice of actors.
When your car's windscreen gets damaged, it does not mean that it needs to be repaired or replaced immediately. In fact, most people can drive on just fine with a damaged windscreen, unless it is damage in the driver's field of vision. In which cases does the windscreen need to be replaced? If the chip or crack is distracting while driving or clearly causes reduced visibility on the road, then chances are that windscreens on your Ford Tourneo Connect do need to be replaced.
There are two cases where the car with windscreen damage will no longer pass inspection. These are damage in the driver's field of vision where there is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres. Windscreen damage of this size is grounds for rejection at the MOT.
You already have a new windscreen for your Ford Tourneo Connect for just €299. This price includes VAT, but also excludes delivery and fitting (both optional). When you indicate what you want during the ordering process, the total price on the page will be adjusted immediately, so you will always know exactly what the cost of the windscreen (with or without on-site car window replacement) will be.
Our automotive glass is significantly cheaper than the car windows at your dealership. Although the quality of the car windows is identical, your Ford dealer charges a significantly higher price because there is a brand logo incorporated in the automotive glass at the dealership. This logo makes the glass exclusive, but otherwise the brand logo does nothing for the car window itself. Therefore, our replacement car windows do not have a brand logo and we can always offer you the best value for money.
Replacing a windscreen yourself is often quite possible, but only if it is a side window and you are technically inclined. Do you need to replace the windscreen and have little or no experience with this? Then it makes sense to have our certified fitting partners replace the window. You can then be sure that the windscreen will be fitted correctly and that it will be done in no time at all, so that you will soon be safe on the road again with your Tourneo Connect.
