Cheap windscreen replacement for your Ford Transit Connect

While the Ford Transit Connect initially seemed to be a model type of the Ford Transit, it soon became apparent that this type had a lot more going for it and would deserve a badge of its own. The Ford Transit Connect became a huge success in several countries and this model is (of course) still in production. Do you have a Ford Transit Connect with windscreen damage and need the windscreen replaced? Then you will find cheap, quality windscreens that you can order with or without fitting, with even on-site windscreen replacement possible.

Before we look at windscreen replacement and the price of our replacement car windows, let's make room for the Ford Transit Connect.

The year 2002: the Ford Transit Connect takes on a life of its own

In 2002, Ford Europe needed to get a replacement on the market for the van variants of the Ford Escort and Ford Courier. The eye soon fell on the (large) Ford Transit, from which the Ford Tourneo Connect and the Ford Transit Connect would be born.

To give the Ford Transit Connect a good start, it opted for a commercial car platform, the C170 platform, while taking many elements of the Ford Focus. However, Ford decided to equip the new Transit Connect with sliding doors, making it an instantly versatile model. Handy for the handyman who needs to be able to access all the cargo space even in tight parking spaces, and at the same time more than enough room for modifications to the model.

2009, a facelift for the Ford Transit Connect

It wasn't until 2009 that the Transit Connect came to the US and Canada, which funnily enough coincided exactly with the model's first facelift. The Transit Connect got a new front grille, a new dashboard and instrument panel from the Ford Focus (C307). In 2011, the Ford Transit Connect's engine range was expanded to include an electric variant.

To get Americans excited about the Transit Connect, mobile showrooms were set up across the country, where people could test drive the model. However, the Ford Transit Connect did not become a real success in America.

2012: the premiere of the second generation in Amsterdam

In 2012, the second generation of the Ford Transit Connect was announced in Amsterdam, with especially significant improvements in comfort (more options and features), including an optional rear lift for wheelchair users and business users (loading and unloading goods). At the same time, the Transit Connect was equipped with the MyKey system.

7 years later, the model received a facelift, which is common for Ford models when they are about midway through their life cycle. The front end received some changes, as did the wheelbases and a new 2.0-litre direct-injection and EcoBlue diesel. After this facelift, the diesel Ford Transit Connect was no longer offered in the US market.

Third generation on the way

Ford has announced that the third generation of the Ford Transit Connect is due out in summer 2024. As soon as this model is at dealerships, this page will get an update. Until then, we'll have to make do with advertisements for the Transit Connect.

How big is the success of the Ford Transit Connect really?

The Ford Transit Connect is a versatile model that has a strong position in the market, but at the same time it is a niche market, especially the commercial vehicle market for installers, repairers and other craftsmen. The latter is well reflected in sales figures. At the time of writing, not even 350 units of the Ford Transit Connect have been sold, losing out even to the Ford Tourneo Connect (just over 400 units). Nonetheless, the global sales figures for a model for such a small market are fine, with which Ford can be satisfied with the performance of this model.

When should the windscreen of a Ford Transit Connect be replaced?

Most people drive on with a chipped windscreen, especially when the damage is out of the driver's line of sight. However, if the windscreen damage is in the driver's line of sight, it is a good idea to take a look at the extent. Is it a branched crack or does the chip have a diameter of at least 20 millimetres? Then the windscreen needs to be replaced. This is because repair is then no longer possible and your car will be rejected at the periodic inspection.

Windscreen damage of this magnitude at this location is dangerous. Not only does window damage distract while driving, the crack or chip also causes incoming light to reflect unpredictably, meaning you could be blinded while driving.

What does a new windscreen for the Transit Connect cost?

You can get a new windscreen for your Ford Transit Connect for as little as €349, but be sure to look at exactly what you want first. This is because the cheapest windscreens do not include heating. All prices include VAT, but exclude delivery and fitting, as you can indicate this on the page during ordering. The page will then immediately calculate the correct total price, without you having to refresh.
