The Ford Transit Custom is a good example of breaking up a model line to appeal to a wider market. First introduced to the market in 2012, the Transit Custom immediately gained a lot of attention and at the time of writing, this model is still in production. Do you have a Ford Transit Custom whose windscreen needs to be replaced? Then you can find new windscreens with the best value for money and excellent customer service with us.
Before we look at the price of our cheap automotive glass for this model, let's take a closer look at the Transit Custom, including the motorhome models that emerged from the line.
In 2012, Ford decided to break up the Transit line into two distinct parts. Firstly, the larger Ford Transit, which remained in production, and secondly, the Ford Transit Custom, with limited size. There was also a passenger version on the market in the form of the Ford Tourneo Connect, which got a smaller version with the Ford Tourneo Custom.
The Ford Transit Custom was updated fairly quickly with minor design tweaks in 2017, but the biggest change was the expansion of the engine range for the Transit Custom, an EcoBlue turbodiesel and, later in 2019, even a hybrid variant. Ford would introduce a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) alongside this the same year, although it would have a limited range which would limit its appeal.
The Transit Custom Nugget and the Swift Monza were two special editions that would be marketed as motorhomes and camper vans, with the Monza being particularly popular with younger families looking for an affordable campervan for their holidays.
Below is a promotional video for the Swift Monza. Viewing is at your own risk, as there is a fairly good chance you will want to book a holiday immediately after this.
In September 2022, Ford announced the second generation of the Ford Transit Custom, with the Volkswagen Transporter as a badge model of the second generation of the Transit Custom. As expected, most of the focus was on the hybrid variant and the all-electric Ford E-Transit Custom, which was given a WLTP range of 423 kilometres.
The Ford Transit Custom was never intended to be a blockbuster, but rather an alternative for people who found the Ford Transit too big and were looking for a slightly smaller model. Looking at the sales figures in the Netherlands at the time of writing, this is clearly reflected. The Ford Transit ticks almost 10,000 sales, while the Transit Custom counts almost 2,000 sales. Always still considerably better than the Ford Tourneo Connect and the Ford Transit Connect, as together they do not even reach 750.
Actually, this is striking. While the Ford Transit Custom is a very comprehensive and versatile Ford, at the same time the advertising below suggests that the market for this model should be limited. However, when you think about the various versions, including the camping models, those sales figures actually explain it just fine.
Windscreen damage is very annoying, although this is mainly due to ignorance. After all, a broken headlight simply always needs to be replaced, as do faulty number plate lights, but when should the windscreen be replaced? In most cases, windscreen damage is simply driven on, especially when the crack or tear is not in the driver's field of vision.
Only if it is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres in the driver's field of vision should the windscreen be replaced. This is because your Ford Transit Custom will no longer pass the MOT with this windscreen damage.
You already have a new windscreen for your Ford Transit Custom for €349. This probably surprises you when you have just heard the price from your Ford dealer, as new windscreens are considerably more expensive there. The price difference is not in the quality, as that is identical. The difference has to do with a brand logo.
The windscreens at your dealer are fitted with a brand logo, giving them an exclusive character and that is reflected in the price. However, the logo does nothing for the windscreen itself, which is why we offer new unbranded windscreens for your Ford Transit Custom. Of course, this means that the price-quality ratio of our automotive glass is significantly better. For example, did you know that the price difference is so great that our new Ford Transit windscreens are often even cheaper than second-hand windscreens for your car?
Replacing a windscreen yourself is not a good idea. Large, heavy windscreens need to be disassembled and fitted properly, without causing damage to the window, the car or yourself. That is why we work together with certified fitting partners who replace windscreens on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. There is no need for you to worry or drive to a service point or garage; our partners simply replace the windscreen where your car is parked.
Are you a garage owner or do you know someone who can replace the windscreen of your Ford Transit Custom? If so, you can of course order the new windscreens from us exclusive of fitting, just as you can choose to collect your order from us (by appointment). All these options can be found on the order page, where you can always immediately see what this does to the total price of your order.
Do you need a new windscreen for your Ford Transit Custom and do not want to pay too much, but at the same time want the best quality? Then you will come to our after market windscreens for your Ford, which can even be fitted on-site for you.
