Cheap windscreen replacement for your Hummer H2

Few models raised as much dust during its introduction as the Hummer H2. A model that would be too big, consume too much fuel and not be in the fuel-efficient class at a time when sustainability is becoming increasingly important and an ‘anti-social’ model. At the same time, there was immediate interest in the technology, features and immense power of the model that is even suitable as a driving holiday destination.

Do you have a Hummer H2 and need a windscreen replacement? Then you can come to us for cheap automotive glass with the best quality. Before we take a closer look at the price and the explanation behind the low prices, let's take a closer look at the Hummer H2.

The Hummer H2: the car that doesn't even look like a car anymore

General Motors, the big name behind the Hummer H2, along with AM General (but not the Hummer H3), had journalists look at the Hummer H2 back in 2001 and 2002, in order to build up interest before the model hit the market in 2002. Reactions were very divided, which is understandable. After all, the Hummer H2, based on General Motors' GMT820, looks more like the mix between a small truck and SUV than an actual passenger car.

What was particularly noticeable was that the model (which was in production from 2002 to 2009) was mostly packed with standard features, including a BOSE sound system, audio system with MP3 connection, cruise control, air conditioning with three separate zones and a steering wheel covered in leather. Of course, this also ensured that even the entry-level version of the Hummer H2 was quite pricey when it arrived at the dealership. It also made it immediately clear that this was never going to be a model for the average car owner.

Update for the Hummer H2 in 2008

In 2008, the Hummer H2 received an update and the interior was completely redesigned and features in the models were modernised, including a better audio system, Bluetooth system to make calls while driving, a complete navigation system and even the ability to start the Hummer H2's engine remotely.

In addition, a new V8 engine with almost 400 hp came under the bonnet, including an automatic gearbox with now 6 gears (instead of 4).

The sales success of the Hummer H2

In America alone, more than 150,000 units of the Hummer H2 were sold, which is an excellent number for a ‘new’ brand that launched a particularly exclusive model, especially since that model was reputed to be a fuel guzzler. In the Netherlands, the Hummer H2 has been sold 47 times, a number that is hardly startling but still indicates that there has been some enthusiasm for the model that was called ‘too big for any parking space’ in the Netherlands.

To give you an idea of the model and the marketing from America, we have posted below an original promotional video that was supposed to ensure queues at the doors of Hummer dealers. We leave the judgement to you.

When should the windscreen of your Hummer H2 be replaced?

Car windscreen damage is always annoying, but by no means in all cases does windscreen damage mean that a new windscreen needs to be arranged. But when does the windscreen need replacing? If it is windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision and it involves a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres, the windscreen needs to be replaced. This is because your Hummer H2 will no longer pass inspection with this windscreen damage.

In all other cases, you can continue driving with damaged windows. However, it is wise to take a critical look at the chip or crack yourself. If it is seriously distracting while driving or you notice that you are (regularly) blinded by incoming light, it is better to have the windscreen replaced. After all, an intact, clean windscreen always offers optimal visibility on the road.

What does a new Hummer H2 windscreen cost?

You already have a new windscreen for your Hummer H2 for €599. That's considerably cheaper than the price of automotive glass at your dealer, and there's a good reason for it. This is because brand dealers only offer windscreens with a brand logo. That logo adds nothing to the automotive glass, but does make it look more exclusive, which means you pay (unnecessarily) a lot for your new windscreen.

Our windscreens have exactly the same quality and are made in the same way as brand windscreens. However, because our replacement windscreens have no brand logo, the price is considerably lower. So if you want to make sure you can find a windscreen for your Hummer H2 with the best value for money, come to us.
