You take a Peugeot 208, extend it by 20 centimetres, increase it by 10 centimetres and you have a Peugeot 2008. That's how they initially reacted to this new Peugeot model, but the criticism soon faded away. The estimated production had to be doubled due to the demand for these models. If you have any problems with your Peugeot 2008, you can easily go to the after market.
If you need to replace the windscreen of your Peugeot 2008, this can be done from € 349. The windscreen is identical to the windscreen of the Peugeot 208.
Before we go into the after market windscreens for the Peugeot 2008, we look at the raison d'être of this car, which has given rise to a new market segment.
Although it makes sense to think that the Peugeot 2008 is based on the Peugeot 208, it is not the direct successor of this model. PSA decided to succeed the Peugeot 207 SW with the Peugeot 2008 because the group did not intend to produce an SUV version of the 208. Therefore, only the electrical components of the 208 models have been taken over, as well as a number of other parts, including the windscreen.
The Peugeot 2008 was built on the PF1 platform, a platform that is popular with PSA. For example, models such as the Citroën C4 Cactus, the Opel Crossland X and the Peugeot 206 were also built on this platform. The larger models (such as the Peugeot 3008 and 5008) are built on the larger variants: the PF2 and PF3 platforms.
But which segment does the Peugeot 2008 belong to? In fact a segment that didn't exist when the car was introduced. With these dimensions it's not a small city car, but a real SUV can't be called the Peugeot 2008 either, because the space for that is too limited. That's why the term 'mini-SUV' was coined for the Peugeot 2008, because it covers the load the best. The Peugeot 2008 is also often called a crossover, like most of Peugeot's four-digit model numbers.
The Peugeot 2008 was a sales success in Europe, with June 2018 as the peak month: 18,390 new models found an owner. In Europe alone, more than 880,000 copies of the Peugeot 2008 were sold until December 2018. This does not make it one of Peugeot's most popular models, but it is certainly not disappointing for a model for which a new market segment had to be invented.
The success of the Peugeot 2008 was reinforced by the fact that it could be delivered directly with petrol or diesel engines and later extended with electric engines. And of course Peugeot was able to come up with a special advertisement that didn't seem to be about the car:
Do you have a Peugeot 2008 with car window damage or do you have a second-hand car in mind with damage to the windscreen? Not all window damage is an immediate cause for panic. An asterisk or crack in the windscreen is not always a reason for disapproval of the car inspection.
According to the rules of the Dutch national road traffic authority ('RDW') the windscreen of the Peugeot 2008 must be replaced if:
So it's mainly about the car window in front of the driver. If there is extensive window damage here, the driver may be blinded while driving. Light is reflected in an unpredictable way when the windscreen is damaged.
Please note: a crack in the inner layer of the car window that crosses a crack in the outer layer of the car window is also seen as a branched crack and is rejected.
That chance is very small. You can only replace the windscreen if you have a lot of experience with it. It is work that is reserved for car mechanics and specialists in the field of automotive glass. The reason behind this is simple: an incorrectly fitted windscreen can come loose during powerful braking and can also leak.
If you want to replace the car window cheaply, then getting started yourself is usually not a good option. It is better to look at the Peugeot windscreens with the best value for money, because there is much more to be saved.
For € 349 you already have a new windscreen for your Peugeot 2008. This is identical to the windscreen for the Peugeot 208. At the brand dealer you pay much more for a new PSA windscreen and also second-hand prices are often higher than the prices of our new car windows. This has everything to do with the brand logo in the Peugeot windscreens, which ensures that the windscreens can only be sold by the dealer.
What does a car window without a brand logo cost: considerably less, but you do not compromise on quality. The car windows meet exactly the same requirements and are made in the factories where the branded windows roll off the conveyor belt. This means that you always have the best price/quality ratio with after market automotive glass. A number of prices for a new Peugeot 2008 windscreen:
