Peugeot needed a cheap middle class and especially the price would be important. In 1998 the 205 was taken out of service after 15 successful years.

In 1998 Peugeot introduced the Peugeot 206 to the market as a successor. And that would be the model with which Peugeot would break all the personal sales records.
