The Peugeot 206 is the absolute success of the French car manufacturer. No other French car sold better than the 206. If you need a windscreen replacement for your Peugeot 206, you can easily go to the after market. More than 8 million copies of the 206 have been made, which means that there are more than enough parts on the after market.
Before we look at the price of a new Peugeot 206 windscreen, we first look at this Peugeot success story, which has nevertheless been criticised because it became very clear that Peugeot wanted to put a cheaper car on the market.
The Peugeot 205 was the car that brought Peugeot out of the financial abyss. But no model has been given eternal life and that's why Peugeot had to look for a successor. This could not be done without a hitch. Peugeot had thought that customers could choose between the more compact Peugeot 106 or the larger Peugeot 306. But that was not what the customers wanted.
That's why the French had to go back to the drawing board to set up a new model. It was decided to set up a direct successor of the Peugeot 205 in the form of the Peugeot 206. This can be seen in the name of the Peugeot 206. Since the first number indicates the size of the car and the third number the generation, it is only logical that the 206 had to replace the 205.
The model was immediately marketed as a three-door and five-door. In 1999, one year after the introduction of the model, the 206 was also produced as an automatic.
With a total of more than 8 million copies produced and more than 450,000 sales in Europe, the 206 is the absolute number one when it comes to the sale of French cars. But it didn't go without a hitch. The Peugeot 206 was deliberately placed as low as possible in the market.
In order to reduce the price, Peugeot has made many savings. The interior is mainly made of hard plastic and the first models didn't have ABS. There are also many problems that often occur with these models. Especially in the area of brakes, sensors and contact points things often go wrong, just like with the rear axle.
Peugeot hasn't done much with the criticism. Some adjustments have been made and since 2004 ABS is standard on the Peugeot 206. Fair is fair: Peugeot didn't have to do much either. The 206 is designed to offer the best value for money. A low price and therefore occasional problems, but a huge sales success.
For the fans: Peugeot also wanted to use the low price as an advantage for the car in India and therefore decided to make a very remarkable (and humorous) advertisement:
Peugeot has a fairly rigid system for setting up type numbers and does not deviate from that. Except for the Peugeot 206! The 206 was followed by the Peugeot 207 in 2006, but the sales of the 206 kept breaking the records. That's why Peugeot decided to do something it hadn't done before.
The Peugeot 206 remained in production and was given a major facelift, plus a new name. The models made after 2009 are called the Peugeot 206+. Not a new generation, but a 'facelift' that all other car manufacturers would have introduced as a new generation. At Peugeot this was impossible. The generation after the 206 should be called 207, but that was already on the market at that time.
If there is an asterisk in the windscreen that is larger than 20 millimetres and that is in the driver's field of vision, the windscreen should be replaced. Also, there should be no crack in the windscreen that crosses another crack. All other damage to the windscreen is permitted within the legislation of the national road traffic authority (which is called the RDW in the Netherlands) and is no reason to replace the car window immediately.
Since this model has been produced in a huge number of copies, you can count on a large after market and a second-hand market with many parts. However, this is not the place where you can cheaply replace the car window of your Peugeot 206.
It may seem attractive to look at used windscreens for your Peugeot 206, but this is not a suitable option if you want the best value for money. The used car windows are often more expensive than the new windscreens on the after market. In addition, there is often no guarantee for a second-hand car window for your Peugeot 206. You will get this when you order new after market windscreens from us.
If you are not sure whether you can replace the windscreen of your Peugeot 206 yourself, then it is clear that you should call on the experts. Our certified fitting partners will arrange this for you within three working days at the location of your choice.
If you are a garage owner or car mechanic, you can, of course, order the car windows online without installation. You can have them delivered to you or even pick them up from us.
You already have a new windscreen for your Peugeot 206 for € 299 (green tinted, suitable for the Peugeot 206 year of construction 1998-2007 and the Peugeot 206+ from 2009). However, it is important to take a good look at which windscreen you need. The many options ensure that you can always find the right windscreen, but it makes the search a bit more difficult. Therefore, please check the year of construction of your Peugeot 206 and whether it has a rain sensor so you know exactly what to look for.
