Windscreen replacement for your Peugeot 3008

The Peugeot 3008 is the first midi-SUV of the French car manufacturer and was immediately well discussed. It was a great success for PSA, with more than 1,000,000 copies sold in Europe alone. If the windscreen of your Peugeot 3008 needs to be replaced, you can go to the after market. For € 399 you will have a new windscreen that is also suitable for the Peugeot 5008.

Before we look at the possibilities on the after market, we first put the Peugeot 3008 in the limelight. Why is this model so successful and what is the one drawback that almost all users fall over?

The Peugeot 3008, Peugeot's first midi-SUV - and an immediate success

In 2008 the Peugeot 3008 was shown to the public. A midi-SUV or a cross-over SUV in the medium-sized car segment. It is the very first car that Peugeot placed in this segment and PSA
immediately unpacked it. A tough design, more attention to finish and attention to detail, something for which Peugeot is not exactly known. Production of the Peugeot 3008 started in 2009 on the PF2 platform
of PSA.

In 2016, Peugeot showed the second generation of the Peugeot 3008, which was called the 'New Peugeot 3008 SUV' and therefore did not become a Peugeot 3009 as would be usual at Peugeot. This is clearly a new generation: a smaller steering wheel (as in the Peugeot 208, Peugeot 2008 and the Peugeot 308), a different platform (EMP2 platform) and more features than the first generation of the 3008. The second generation of the 3008 is sold in China as Peugeot 4008, because the first generation is still on the market there.

The second generation: many pluses and two minuses that come from generation 1

There are two drawbacks that are repeatedly mentioned when it comes to the Peugeot 3008. The first drawback is that PSA has put an SUV on the market, where four-wheel drive is not an option. The 3008 models are only available with single-axle drive. To make up for this, Peugeot has pulled out another feature: Hill Decend Control, a cruise control function that can be used to drive a maximum of three kilometres per hour on a steep slope. Unfortunately this is of little use to you in most countries.

The other drawback is (again) the touchscreen used in the Peugeot 3008. The i-Cockpit in the second generation reacts slowly or hardly. Since the climate control is hidden away somewhere under a menu function, this doesn't really make the comfort optimal. This problem is not unique for this type, Peugeot loses market share with all models because of the touchscreen, where car manufacturers like Volkswagen and Audi have done a much better job.

At the same time, the second generation has more luggage space than all its competitors, on the Volkswagen Tiguan now. This is due to the flexible EMP2 platform on which the Peugeot 308 and Citroën C4 Picasso are also built.

The success of the Peugeot 3008

The Peugeot 3008 was a big step for PSA in a new market, where competitors had been experimenting with SUV models for some time. But the success was by no means disappointing. The second generation of the 3008 was proclaimed the car of the year 2017, so that the attention was focused on this model. More than 28,000 models were sold in the Netherlands, which seems almost nothing compared to almost half a million models produced by the French in 2012.

The Peugeot 3008 has therefore been a great success for Peugeot, with many preferring the second generation because it has become a 'real SUV', as Fifth Gear clearly shows once again on YouTube:

When should your Peugeot 3008 windscreen be replaced?

An asterisk or a crack in the windscreen, it can happen at any time. However, although car window damage is particularly annoying, it is not always necessary to replace the windscreen directly on your Peugeot 3008. When to replace a car window: in the event of windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision

  • In the form of a star with a diameter of more than 20 millimetres
  • In the form of a branched crack.

If the windscreen damage is of a smaller size, it is not necessary to replace the windscreen directly. Keep an eye on the extent of the windscreen damage: a chip or crack can tear further at large temperature differences, after which it may be necessary to replace the car window immediately.

Can I replace the windscreen of my Peugeot 3008 myself?

That chance is very small. If you are not a specialist in this area and you have to look at Google for 'how to replace a car window', then limit yourself to replacing the side window of the Peugeot 3008. The windscreen can best be replaced by a specialist, because:

  1. An incorrectly fitted windscreen can come loose if you suddenly have to brake forcefully
  2. Incorrect installation will cause the windscreen to leak in places where you will never notice it immediately - you will lose the savings directly to all repairs that need to be made to repair the interior and electronics.

Are you a car mechanic or do you have a lot of experience replacing windscreens? Then you can also order all the automotive glass from us without fitting. If you wish, you can even pick it up from us.

How can I save on a new Peugeot 3008 windscreen?

Do you want the best value for money for your new windscreen? Then you can't ignore after market automotive glass. Our new windscreens are often cheaper than the second-hand car windows you will find for the Peugeot 3008. This has to do with one small element in branded windows. It's about the brand logo, which doesn't really do anything for your windscreen.

Official Peugeot windscreens feature a brand logo. This means that the windscreens can only be sold by PSA dealers, and this exclusivity will automatically result in a higher price. After market car windows do not have a brand logo, but are otherwise identical to the brand glass. In fact, they are manufactured in the same way and with the same machines as Peugeot's branded windscreens. But without the brand logo the price is much lower.

What does a new windscreen for a Peugeot 3008 cost?

For € 399 there is already a new windscreen for the Peugeot 3008. This windscreen is also suitable for the Peugeot 5008. The dimensions are exactly the same, making them interchangeable. This price is inclusive VAT, exclusive delivery and without fitting. A fitted windscreen on location costs € 499 (including VAT) within the Netherlands. Our certified fitting partners will install the windscreen within three working days. Are you in a hurry? For a small fee, we will ensure that you have a new windscreen in your Peugeot 3008 or 5008 within 24 hours.
