Before looking at the prices of new windscreens for a Peugeot 806, we first take a look at this striking model, which has had direct competition from a very unexpected angle.
In 1994, PSA suddenly launched four complete MPV models, which can best be described as a bus for the whole family. The Peugeot 806 shares the platform with the Citroën Evasion, the Fiat Ulysse and the Lancia Zeta. The Citroën Jumpy, Fiat Scudo and Peugeot Expert vans were launched simultaneously on the market on the same basis. In 2002, the complete line was followed by the second generation. In 2002 the production of the Peugeot 806 was discontinued to make room for the Peugeot 807 (actually nothing more than the second generation of the Peugeot 806).
The Peugeot 806 faced competition from an unexpected source. Mazda, not exactly the manufacturer that the car enthusiast thinks of when it comes to MPVs, introduced the Mazda MPV to the market. However, it would perform considerably worse in the Netherlands. Of the Mazda MPV only 1,000 models were sold in this country. The Peugeot 806 scored considerably better with 3,500 models. This doesn't seem like much compared to the other Peugeot models, but for an MPV it's a good score as the market for these models is simply smaller.
The Mazda MPV was incredibly bad because the model was simply too slow and too tight. The standard version of the Peugeot 806 didn't have these problems. The extra backseat (optional at the dealer) made it possible for no less than eight people to sit in Peugeot's spacious car. But if you opted for a 2.0 Turbo, you could accommodate seven people in the 806. Perhaps one occupant less, but a top speed of 195 kilometres per hour and 11 seconds to get from standstill to 100 kilometres per hour.
This made the Peugeot 806 the fastest MPV in production. This was at the expense of fuel economy, but proved to be the sales argument for making the boring Mazda MPV immediately unintended among the target group. Especially when it turned out that the rear seats in the Peugeot can be folded forward to make extra luggage space possible. This option was missing in the Mazda, so it was reserved exclusively for passenger transport.
Most MPV models have safety issues. This is also the case with the Peugeot 806, although this model scored reasonably well in the EuroNCAP tests. Three stars for the safety of the occupants, which is mainly due to the steer that came up and the driver's head that hit the airbag before it was fully inflated. The Peugeot 806 is considerably safer in the event of a side impact.
A Peugeot 806 windscreen must be replaced when it no longer meets the requirements of the law. This has everything to do with window damage in the driver's field of vision. This is not allowed:
If there is no branched crack or larger asterisk, but is there car window damage in the windscreen in the driver's field of vision? Then it's good to keep an eye on the damage, because it can get bigger. This mainly happens when there are large temperature differences, such as when the heating system is running at maximum speed during the winter or when air conditioning is used in the summer.
If you don't know how to replace your Peugeot windscreen, it's best to leave it to the experts. A windscreen needs to be fitted professionally and accurately, because:

The PSA windscreens are much more expensive at the brand dealer. The brand windscreens contain a brand logo that ensures exclusivity. These windscreens may only be sold by the PSA dealer. An after market windscreen does not have a brand logo, but is identical to the branded windscreens for the Peugeot 806. They are often made in the same factories with exactly the same machines where the brand windows are also made.
