The Peugeot 807 was launched on the market in 2002. This model replaced the Peugeot 806 and has a lot in common with the Fiat Ulysse, the Lancia Phedra and the Citroën C8. PSA placed the models in a busy market segment where we also see the Ford Galaxy, the Volkswagen Sharan and the Renault Espace. But with the Peugeot 807, PSA wanted to focus on many possibilities with a cheaper model.
The 807 was equipped with electric sliding doors as an option, so that it was easy to get in and out of the car even in tight parking spaces. Also the DVD player, xenon lamps, the navigation system and air conditioning were available for the fully equipped 807. It is remarkable that the diesel engines of PSA for the Peugeot 807 were already equipped with a particle filter at the introduction in 2002 (the competitors didn't come up with this until two years later). In addition, the diesel engine immediately met the EU requirements, which would later pose challenges for other models in the same market segment.
The fact that this model did not become a greater success, despite all the options and the seven seats, has to do with the design, among other things. Although the Peugeot 807 is no bigger than a Volvo V70, many drivers complained about problems with feeling the size of the car while driving. This resulted in parking damage.
