The Renault Master is rightly called a special model. The Master has been sold in more than 50 countries, has more than 350 (!) versions and has been sold more than 2.5 million times worldwide. These are achievements of which Renault can be proud, especially since the Renault Trafic was placed on a similar market and showed similar successes.

The Renault Masters of the first generation were fitted with a Fiat diesel engine as standard. Renault's own petrol engines were rarely fitted in the new models. In 1990, the 2445cc Fiat-Sofirm diesel engine was replaced by the 2499cc, again from Fiat. All models were produced in France (Batilly).
In November 1997, the second generation of the Renault Master saw the light of day. Although this model was largely designed by Renault itself, there were many similarities with the Opel Movano and the Nissan Interstar. Thanks to the collaboration between Iveco and Renault, we also saw many of the design elements reflected in the third generation of the Iveco Daily.
The second generation of the Master was fitted with Renault S-type engines, G-type engines and the YD engines from Nissan. In 2003, this model was given a facelift, with particular attention being paid to the rear lights and dashboard, which significantly narrowed the design gap between the Renault Trafic and Renault Master. Nissan's 3.0 ZD3 engine was also added to the facelift. Another facelift followed in 2007, but only the grille was modified.

Renault's objective is striking: the car manufacturer wanted to give the Master the comfort of a passenger car. For example, by using high-quality materials in the cabin, but also by paying more attention to the design of the cabin. Examples include a new dashboard, more storage space in the cabin, an integrated navigation system and a modern gearstick with chrome.
The Renault Master and Trafic have sold more than 4 million copies worldwide. The share for the Renault Master is high; more than 2.5 million copies rolled off the French production lines, making it without a doubt a success number for Renault. And the cooperation partners, because their models were also in great demand as workhorses in companies all over the world.
