The Renault Premium is a Renault truck and has been in production for a relatively short time. The first models rolled out of the factory in 1996; production was halted in 2013. The Premium was mainly used as a distribution truck. Do you have a Premium and do you have windscreen damage? If so, a windscreen replacement of the Renault Premium may be necessary. The Renault Premium is the successor to the Renault R and is a competitor to the DAF CF and Volvo FM. When it was taken out of production in 2013, the Premium was succeeded by Renault Trucks T. The Renault Premium was assembled in France, Turkey and Uruguay, which is a clear indication of how this Renault truck has been sold worldwide.
The new version of the Renault Premium, which was launched in 2005, was completely revamped by the French car and truck manufacturer. The complete powertrain and chassis were adapted to better meet the demands of today's market.
Among other things, the new Premium was equipped with an 11-litre engine with a power output of 440 hp. In this way, the Premium lent itself to more diverse loads, also for longer distances. It soon became clear that a critical review of the engine range was taking place; the new engines consumed 5% less fuel and the new gearbox (Optidriver II) made it considerably more comfortable to actually cover long distances. The front of the Premium was also changed to make the look more modern.
When the windscreen of a truck gets damaged in the driver's field of vision, it is quite annoying. Especially when a driver has to travel longer distances and can be constantly distracted by the windscreen damage. That is why it is a good idea to intervene as quickly as possible in the event of damage to a lorry's windscreen, for example by having the windscreen repaired.
However, repairing automotive glass is not always possible. In the case of a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres, windscreen repair is no longer possible. If this window damage is in the driver's field of vision, you may not drive this lorry any further on Dutch roads.
Replacing the windscreen of a lorry is often very expensive when you go to the dealer. Fortunately, a cheaper option is possible.
You already have a new Renault Premium windscreen for € 369. This is not a windscreen from the dealer, but an after market windscreen from the automotive glass expert. Apart from the price, there is only one difference between the brand windscreens and the after market windscreens. Automotive glass from the dealer is provided with a brand logo. This brand logo ensures that the windscreen can only be sold by the Renault dealer. This exclusivity results in a higher price tag.
After market automotive glass does not have a brand logo, which allows us to keep the prices much lower. Even if you choose to replace the windscreen on location, you are often even cheaper than having the windscreen replaced at the dealer.
Replacing windscreens is an accurate and difficult job. This applies to car windscreens, and certainly also to the windscreens of trucks.
