The Renault 9 and Renault 11 are strongly connected. In fact, it is just the same model, but in two different versions. The Renault 9 was put on the market in 1981, two years later the Renault 11 would follow. Both models became a reasonable success; in the Netherlands they were eagerly in demand. Renault therefore sat down at the drawing board to make the Renault 9 remarkably different. There are even more differences between the two models. The interior of the Renault 9 can be called spartan; solid, but very simple. With the Renault 11 a new dashboard was designed, which was digital (only on the Electronic line).
In 1987 both variants were given a facelift. A lot didn't happen, the headlights were adjusted and the Renault 11 got a red light bar across the width of the car at the rear.
In 1988 both models were replaced. The Renault 9 was succeeded by the Renault 19, where the Renault 11 was replaced by the Renault 19 Chamade.
The Renault 14 never became the success that Renault hoped for. Were the car manufacturer's efforts rewarded for its successors? Yes, the Renault 9 and the Renault 11 became much more successful. Respectively, more than 30,000 and more than 20,000 models were sold in the Netherlands. The car also sold well in the rest of Europe. By the way, the Renault 9 and 11 remained in production until 2000 in, among others, Turkey.
