The Toyota Camry is one of the Japanese car manufacturer's models that has been in production for a particularly long time. Back in 1982, the first model was placed at dealerships and at the time of writing, new ones are still being made. Do you own one of the nearly 20,000 Camry's sold in the Netherlands and does your car need a windscreen replacement? Then you will find quality and cheap new windscreens for your Toyota Camry.
Before we look at the low prices of our replacement car windows, let's take a closer look at the model that has been rolling out of the factories for more than 40 years.
Although the first Toyota Camry only rolled out of the factory in 1982, it was not an entirely new model. In fact, Toyota already had the Celica Camry on the market in Japan, but made this an independent model in 1982 by sticking the V10 series on the label. Just four years later, the V20 (second generation of the Toyota Camry) would already hit the market, with Toyota deciding to develop a station wagon variant for the export market, something that contributed quite a bit to the model's success.
In 1990 came the V30 (generation three) of the Camry, but it was only marketed in Japan itself. From this model, the XV10 was developed in 1991, which was intended for the international market. The main difference is mainly the size: the models for the expert were (considerably) larger than those for the Japanese market.
There is, incidentally, a good reason for this that is by no means known to everyone. Back then, road tax in Japan was calculated partly by looking at the width and length of the car. The smaller the car, the lower the road tax. These small models were obviously not a success in the international market, as the average height (and width) of the driver is simply higher in, say, America and Europe.
Therefore, Toyota developed the ‘Wide-Body’ variant on the Camry and this has ensured that the number of different models as well as variants of the Toyota Camry has now become endless.
In 2023 (2024 model year at dealerships), Toyota made an important decision. Namely, the latest model would no longer enter the market internationally with only a combustion engine. All models would be hybrid. Incidentally, that is also directly the biggest difference between the XV70 and the new XV80, as the same platform is used to make the models.
The Camry has become a sales success especially in Japan and in Australia, where it has competed with models like the Mazda 6, Skoda Superb and the Ford Mondeo.
Toyota is not known for great or funny commercials, but the special series made in 2012 is surely one of the better commercials from this brand. The idea behind it is that the new Toyota Camry can completely change your life.
A chip or crack in the windscreen is always annoying, but in most cases you can continue driving as normal with the windscreen damage. There are only two cases where the windscreen does need to be replaced, because the car with this damage will be rejected at the next inspection. These are damage to the windscreen in the driver's field of vision, involving a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or a branched crack.
Is the damage not in the field of vision and not disruptive enough to have the windscreen replaced immediately? Then do keep an eye on the damage, because if there are large temperature differences between the two sides of the windscreen (for example, if you have the heater on full on the windscreen on a cold winter day), the window may crack further and the windscreen damage could suddenly become very bothersome.
You already have a new windscreen for your Toyota Camry for €349. This includes VAT and excludes the cost of delivery and windscreen replacement. This is much cheaper than the windscreens your Toyota dealer can offer you, while the quality is identical. Indeed, the car windows are usually even made in the same factory, in exactly the same way. The reason for the big price difference is a simple little logo. The Toyota dealer only offers automotive glass with a brand logo. That logo does nothing for the windscreen itself, but it does give the automotive glass an exclusive character which amounts to you paying more for it.
Our windscreens have no brand logo, which means the prices of our replacement windscreens are much lower. In fact, the difference is so great that our new windscreens are even cheaper than second-hand windscreens for the Toyota Camry.
