The Toyota Tundra is a special model. Not only because this model was actually supposed to be called T150, but Ford put a stop to this, but also because it is an American Japanese car with remarkable sales figures, partly because this is a particularly strong model that even came out well from safety tests in America, as the first full-size pick-up.
If you are looking for a new windscreen for the Tundra because the windscreen needs replacing, then you have come to the right place. Before we surprise you with the competitive prices of our new windscreens for the Tundra, we will first briefly go over this particular Toyota model.
As of 2015, the Toyota Tundra was offered in several countries, including Canada, Mexico, Panama, Bolivia, Chile and, of course, the United States. The model never officially came to Europe, but there are Toyota Tundra models driving around in European countries. These are imported models that fall under pearl import (or grey import). Therefore, the number of Toyota Tundra models is very limited in countries like the Netherlands and Belgium.
Putting this into figures, it is clear where the Toyota Tundra has sold the most. Indeed, almost 92% of the models were sold in the United States, and just under 8% were sold in Canada. The remaining 0.5% were sold in other countries.
In 1999, the successor to the Toyota T100 entered the market and was initially to be called the T150. However, this name was too similar to the Ford F-150 and after a lawsuit, Toyota changed the name to Toyota Tundra. The model was a large pick-up that would initially be made exclusively in the United States, the pick-up would never see Japanese markets or factories.
The Toyota Tundra became an instant success, selling twice as much as its predecessor during its introduction. It also broke the sales records of all Toyota models, which seemed a promising start for the model. The Tundra was equipped with a 24-valve 3.4-litre V6 or a 32-valve 4.7-litre V8, both very powerful engines that clearly made the Tundra a workhorse, aimed at the US (and to a lesser extent Canadian) market.
In 2002 came a small facelift and a year later came a special edition of the model, after the Tundra had an acting debut in Terminator 3. Another special edition followed in 2006 (Darrel Waltrip edition with 2,000 copies) to pay tribute to the NASCAR driver.
In 2007 came the second generation of this model, which was considerably larger and leaned on the design details of the Toyota Tacoma. Its towing capacity of 4,500 kilograms was astonishing, especially when combined with a maximum payload of 910 kilograms. This was mainly due to the three new engines, all of which were even more powerful than the first-generation options.
With the second generation, Toyota focused mainly on ease of use for the different users of the models. For example, the Tundra got larger door handles and higher roofs, to make it even more attractive to those in the construction industry. Eventually, there would be more than 44 different versions of the second generation on the market.
The third generation of the Toyota Tundra hit the market in 2021, and this generation is built on the GA-F platform. Once again, Toyota chose to market the model in different trims to expand its market share. The hybrid version will also be offered in Australia from 2025. No other concrete plans have been revealed for European countries. The third generation has shown a dip in sales, but that is due to supply problems that all carmakers have had during this period, due to global government measures and restrictions.
Windscreen damage is obviously always annoying, but how do you decide when the windscreen needs replacing? For windscreens, it's simple. If it is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 2 centimetres AND the glass damage is in the driver's field of vision, the windscreen needs to be replaced. This is because the car will be rejected at the next MOT for the windscreen damage. In all other cases, you can continue to drive with damaged windscreens, although you are always free to replace them if the chip or crack bothers you.
With us, you can order a new Toyota Tundra windscreen for just €899, which is significantly cheaper than the original windscreens for this model. The quality is identical, but our replacement windscreens have no brand logo. That means it lacks exclusivity, which means specifically that you can always find cheap car windows with us without compromising on quality.
You can save a lot of money by doing certain jobs yourself. If you have little or no experience in replacing windscreens, then this is not one of those jobs. This is because a small mistake while dismantling the old window or fitting the new windscreen can already result in a hefty cost or hospital bill, especially with the generous size of Toyota Tundra windscreens. That's why we strongly recommend using our certified fitting partners (you can easily do this while ordering the windscreen on the page). They will replace car windows on-site and ensure that you can always get back on the road safely within a short time.
If you are a specialist or garage owner, you can of course also order the new car windows without fitting.
Do you need a new windscreen for your Toyota Tundra or any other car model? Then you will always find the best car windows at the best prices with us. Of course, you can choose whether you want to order the new windows with or without on-site fitting by professionals.
