Cheap windscreen replacement for your Volvo C30

The Volvo C30 is the hatchback from Swedish Volvo that was produced from 2006 to 2013 and then taken out of production to make room for the second generation of the Volvo V40. The C30 got to shine in Twilight Saga, but did not become a resounding success for the carmaker, partly due to an unusual marketing strategy when the electric variant of the C30 was launched. Nevertheless, thousands of units of this model are driving around in the Netherlands. Do you have a Volvo C30 and do you need to replace the windscreen? Then you will find new windscreens with the best price-quality ratio and the best windscreen replacement service.

The Volvo C30, the model that only knows one generation

Most car models nowadays have several generations, updates and facelifts. The Volvo C30 is an exception, as only one generation was launched. In 2006, the three-door front-wheel-drive hatchback entered the market in the premium segment. What was immediately noticeable was that the rear of the new model had a lot in common with the P1800 ES and the Volvo 480.

The C30 is built on the Volvo P1 Platform, which is shared with the Ford C1.
The list of car models built on the same platform is long. A small sample of the big names:

This platform would be replaced in 2011 by the C-platform, commonly called C-Car. Volvo would also use this platform for the successor to the Volvo C30, namely the Volvo V40 II (and the V40 Cross Country).

The Volvo C30 from 2010

In 2010, Volvo decided not to give the C30 a new generation, but to make modifications. Extensive these were not, by the way. The front end was redesigned, the rear became more dynamic with more wavy lines and two new wheel options were added, including all-white wheels. The most notable change was the expansion of the colour arsenal: the C30 Contrast Colour Collection offered a choice of five colours for the C30 after 2010.

The Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric and a strange bit of marketing from Sweden

Volvo is known for quirky choices, but the choices surrounding the Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric single-handedly killed the model. Volvo decided to make only a small number of units with an 82 kW engine plus a 24 kWh battery pack (Li-Ion). The idea was to make up to 250 units, which could be leased mainly by governments and large companies, at a cost of around €1,500 a month. After criticising the high prices, Volvo replied that the price was in line with the model's rarity. 126 units were leased in Sweden, six in France and that was the end of the matter. The Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric flopped miserably.

Has the Volvo C30 become a resounding sales success?

Although the Volvo C30 is list leader of the C-line with more than 12,000 sales on Dutch soil, it does not even come close to matching Volvo's top models. By comparison, the Volvo 340 scores ten times better with more than 120,000 sales and even the Volvo V60 shows fourfold sales figures. At the same time, this has been a model that has only been in production for 7 years, had only one generation and got an electric variant that was very peculiarly placed in the market. On top of that, C30 models are still getting a lot of attention in the used market.

Perhaps the relatively moderate success of the C30 is also due to its marketing. Below is the ad that was supposed to convince European and US consumers that this would be the car for them.

When should the windscreen of your Volvo C30 be replaced?

Car windscreen damage is extremely annoying, especially as it is constantly visible. Nevertheless, the windscreen of your Volvo C30 by no means needs to be replaced for every windscreen damage. There are only a few cases where the windscreen needs to be replaced immediately. These include windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision, involving a chip at least 20 millimetres in diameter or a branched crack. In these cases, windscreen damage means rejection at the MOT.

What does a new windscreen for the Volvo C30 cost?

You already have a new Volvo C30 windscreen for €329. This is the price including VAT, but excluding fitting costs and delivery. If you have a new windscreen for your Volvo C30 delivered and fitted by our fitting partners within 14 days, the total price will be €429. This is considerably less than the price your Volvo dealer charges you.

The difference in price between after-market windscreens and dealer glass

The Volvo dealer only installs branded glass, which bears a brand logo. This brand logo makes the windscreens exclusive, but otherwise does nothing for the automotive glass. The windscreens you find with us are after market car windows. In most cases, they are made in the same factories as branded windscreens, but because our windscreens have no brand logo, they are considerably cheaper while the quality is identical. If you want inexpensive automotive glass, you will end up with after market automotive glass.

Can you replace the windscreen of your Volvo C30 yourself?

Unless you are a car mechanic and have experience in car window replacement, we strongly discourage you from starting windscreen replacement yourself. While dismounting and fitting the windscreen, you may damage the Volvo C30 and if fitted incorrectly, you will need a new windscreen in no time, which will only increase the cost of replacing the windscreen.

When ordering, you can specify that you want to have the windscreen replaced by our fitting partners, who can always provide on-site windscreen replacement for you, so in the meantime, you can continue working or doing whatever you need to do at the time, as long as our partners can get to your car to do their work.

Do you have a garage or are you an automotive glass specialist? Then you can also order the car windows from us exclusive of fitting. You can even choose to collect them from us, so you don't have to pay any delivery charges when you order.
