Cheap windscreen replacement for your Volvo C70

When you look at the Volvo C70, you immediately notice that this is a sporty, unique model for Volvo. What you may not immediately see is that it took the Swedish carmaker a whopping 30 (!) months to finalise the design of this model so that the car could actually go into production. Volvo explored new possibilities with the C70, stealthily leaned on existing models and achieved a fine sales result for a model made for a limited market.

Do you own one of the few thousand C70 models in the Netherlands and need to replace your Volvo's windscreen? Then you will find car windows with the best value for money with us. Before we look at cheap windscreens, let's put the C70 in the spotlight.

The C70: a completely new path for Volvo

The Volvo C70 is the only model in the C-line built on the P80 platform, the platform used for the Volvo 850, the S70 and V70, among others. It should be mentioned, however, that the P80 platform
was thoroughly modified by TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing),
a collaboration partner of Volvo for only the first generation of the Volvo C70. After mutual disagreements, the partners parted ways. TWR did not collaborate on the second generation of the C70.

The Volvo C70 is a two-door and came as a coupé and a convertible from 1996. It was not until the second generation (2006 to 2013) that the convertible also featured a hardtop. In both generations, by the way, the roof is fully automatic. At the press of a button, the roof is folded in, or just back over the car.

Incidentally, the first generation received several criticisms. Not only on the chassis shaking and the limited visibility through the rear window, but also on the often extremely small buttons (for no apparent reason) and the fact that the interior seems to have been taken straight from the Volvo V50 and Volvo S40. Now this is fairly common in the automotive world, but from a model that has been on the drawing board for 30 months, you should expect more.

Two generations for an exciting model

In 2006, the second generation of the C70 entered the market and two drastic changes were chosen. First, the P80 platform was traded in for the platform on which the Volvo S40 was also built. Volvo also removed the coupé version from production. The second generation consisted exclusively of hardtop convertible models.

The second generation got a roof that could be fully folded and unfolded within 30 seconds and had a mechanism that allowed all windows to be opened and closed simultaneously. Volvo sold a total of more than 88,000 models of the second-generation C70 worldwide. While not a spectacle, these are fine sales figures for a hardtop convertible from Sweden.

Was the Volvo C70 a sales success in the Netherlands?

The Volvo C70 did not become a sales success in the Netherlands, nor in the rest of the world. That's not what the model was intended for, either. With the C70, Volvo explored new possibilities, created a unique model and designed and produced a car for a niche market, because a convertible in the higher price segment with a sporty appearance for a brand that normally builds family cars is difficult.

Incidentally, the Volvo C70 did sell more than 4,000 in the Netherlands, leaving models like the Volvo S70, the Volvo C40 and also the Volvo S90 behind. Perhaps this had something to do with the special advertisement for the C70, in which Volvo showed for once that the automaker does know how to make a mischievous, funny advertisement.

When should your Volvo C70's windscreen be replaced?

While windscreen damage is always annoying, a chip or cracked glass does not mean that the windscreen should be replaced immediately. In fact, in most cases, you can simply continue driving with a chip in the windscreen. However, there are two cases where you will have to look for a new windscreen. This is the case of windscreen damage in the windscreen, in the driver's field of vision, involving a chip at least 20 millimetres in diameter or a branched crack.

What does a new windscreen for the Volvo C70 cost?

Before you choose to order a new windscreen, it's a good idea to take a look at the price of a new Volvo C70 windscreen. After all, you already have a new windscreen for your C70 from €319 (including VAT). If you also opt for fitting and delivery, you can immediately see in the overview what your total price will be. For example, if you opt for delivery and fitting within 14 days on location in the Netherlands, the total price will be € 419.

Automotive glass with the best price-performance ratio for your C70

With us, windscreen replacement costs are much lower than at your dealer. This is due to the automotive glass used. Your dealer uses branded glass, which is therefore exclusive. We only offer after market automotive glass. This glass does not have a brand logo, but is otherwise identical to the glass from your Volvo dealer. With us, you therefore choose the best quality at the lowest price.

Can you replace the windscreen of your Volvo C70 yourself?

When it comes to cheap windscreen replacement, you may be thinking of rolling up your sleeves yourself. We strongly advise against this unless you are an automotive glass specialist. This is because in case of incorrect installation or accidents during the installation or removal of the automotive glass, the risk of (large-scale) damage is considerable.

If you are a garage owner or a car window replacement specialist, you can also order all automotive glass from us without fitting (and possibly even without delivery). We supply not only private individuals, but also business customers, including garage owners throughout the Netherlands.
