Volvo proved that bigger is not always better with the XC40, which was the Swedish brand's smallest SUV at the time of its release. The XC40 has become a success number that is currently still in production and development, allowing Volvo to make a big impression on the SUV market. Do you have a Volvo XC40 with a chipped windscreen and do you want to replace it? Then you will find the best automotive glass at competitive prices. Before we look at prices and windscreen replacement, we will of course look at this particular model from Volvo.
The model was first available to order in late 2017, but already in early 2019, the Swedish company saw that it had to pull out all the stops. Production capacity of the XC40 was increased to provide enough models, as the number of sales had exceeded the number of available models.
Two models that come directly from the Volvo XC40 deserve some extra attention here. First, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, Volvo's first battery car with a 78 kWh battery pack. This model marked the beginning of the transition within Volvo, where the company promised to launch a new all-electric model every year in order to develop a more sustainable model range.
The C40 Recharge entered the market in 2021, two years after the XC40 Recharge. The major difference between the models is the design of the roof, with the C40's roof looking more like a coupé than a true SUV.
The Volvo XC40 can undoubtedly be called one of Volvo's sales successes, with this model, which is still in production at the time of writing, already ranking high in the top lists with almost 40,000 sales in the Netherlands. What should not be forgotten here is that Volvo has derived numerous other models from Volvo's XC40, which are not included in this sales figure. This means that this model can compete just fine with models like the Volvo V50 and Volvo V60.
Actually, it is surprising that Volvo managed to score with the XC40 (type T3), as the competition is huge for this market segment. For example, you can think of the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Mazda CX-5, the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. Looking at the competition for the T5 (eight-speed 247 hp), the list gets even longer with, among others, the Jaguar E-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 and the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (2.0 version). With that, the Swedes can safely give themselves a pat on the back.
Perhaps this had to do with the marketing around the model. In fact, Volvo's more recent commercials are considerably better designed than the older ads, some of which barely featured the car.
Below you can see for yourself the introductory video that Volvo used to try to market the Volvo XC40 in its home country of Sweden.
Any kind of damage to your car is annoying, and chances are that you will be concerned about the cost of the repair beforehand, as car parts and repairs are extremely pricey these days. If it is damage to the windscreen, however, it is by no means always necessary to replace it. There are only two cases where the windscreen of your Volvo XC40 needs to be replaced and the car will no longer pass the MOT.
These are windscreen damage in the windscreen in the driver's field of vision, involving a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres. In all other cases, you can simply continue driving with a crack or chip in the windscreen, although it is wise to check regularly to make sure the window has not cracked further. This happens especially with large temperature differences between either side of the windscreen, for example while driving with the heater full on the windscreen during a cold winter day.
You already have a new windscreen for your Volvo XC40 from €749. This is the price for the windscreen itself, excluding delivery and fitting. When you adjust the options to your own wishes, you can immediately see the total price for the new Volvo XC40 windscreen including delivery and fitting on location in the Netherlands and Belgium.
The price of our new Volvo windscreens is significantly lower than the price your Volvo dealer charges you. In fact, our new windscreens are often even cheaper than original second-hand windscreens. This has everything to do with the brand logo embedded in the windscreens. This little logo makes the automotive glass exclusive and at the same time that is all it does.
Our after market car windows do not feature a brand logo. In most cases, they are made in the same factories as the branded car windows and even the quality is identical. That means that with our after market car windows, you always choose automotive glass with the best value for money.
Windscreen replacement is a job for automotive glass specialists, where correct windscreen replacement is important for the safety and lifetime of the car window. This is why we strongly advise against replacing the windscreen of your Volvo XC40 yourself, unless you have a lot of experience with windscreen replacement.
Are you an expert in automotive glass or do you have a garage? Then you can also order all automotive glass from us without fitting. You can also choose to collect the windscreen(s) from us yourself to save on delivery costs.
